A new poster has been circulating on social media about the Griswolds coming back for a Christmas Vacation reunion this December, causing excitement among fans of the original movie.

The post was shared by the Facebook page called Yoda Bby Aby on Monday, November 11, 2024, and it says:

"This December 2024, the Griswolds are back for more holiday chaos! Join Clark, Ellen, and the whole dysfunctional family as they head to the family cabin for a new round of hilarious mishaps and yuletide mayhem. Stream the laughter-filled sequel exclusively on MAX, and make your Christmas merrier (and messier) than ever before!"

Nevertheless, once the post began to attract attention, certain fans informed others that the announcement was unofficial. The Facebook page Yoda Bby Aby says that it's committed to pure satire and false information. Therefore, the announcement is not authentic.

That has disappointed fans who were eager to witness the original cast back on screen. However, a few have expressed hope that this might become a reality at some time in the future.

The Griswolds won't be returning for the Christmas Vacation reunion

As mentioned before, there has been a lot of excitement regarding a new poster promoting the Griswolds' come back for a Christmas Vacation reunion this December, which was rumored to air on HBO Max.

However, it’s important to state that this poster and its message have been thoroughly examined and found to be untrue. Fans of the cherished franchise were initially thrilled by the idea, but it has been confirmed that there will not be any reunion special featuring the Griswold family, causing disappointment among them.

For those wondering if their hopes of the Griswolds returning for Christmas Vacation 2 will ever bear fruit, there's some good news. For those unaware, a made-for-television movie titled National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 2, a spinoff of the original film, was aired in 2003.

However, the film didn't focus on or feature the original cast of Christmas Vacation including Chevy Chase and Beverley D'Angelo. The storyline of the movie was instead centred on Cousin Eddie, Catherine and Audrey Griswold, who found themselves stranded on a tropical island following a shipwreck during Christmas.

Nevertheless, the cast of the original movie has stayed connected through various channels over the years. Whether through appearances in advertisements or planned gatherings, they have ensured that they are aware of what's happening in each other's lives over the years.

In 2012, the actors of the film reunited for an advertisement for Old Navy. Subsequently, in 2020, the cast members came together once again for a Ford Mach-E commercial, where they posed as the Griswold family.

Moreover, in 2015, Chevy Chase and Beverley D'Angelo appeared in cameo roles in Vacation, a sequel to the original movie. The movie featured Ed Helms and Christina Applegate as Rusty Griswold and Debbie, Rusty's wife, respectively.

You can watch the movie on multiple streaming platforms such as Max, YouTube, Hulu, Sling TV, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube TV, Google Play Movies, Apple TV Plus and Fandango at Home.

If you are among the group of people who feel let down by the announcement that the Christmas Vacation reunion will not take place, you can briefly fulfil your desires by viewing the original film. It's currently accessible on Max, YouTube, Google Play Movies, Sling TV, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, YouTube TV, Fandango at Home and Apple TV Plus.
