An X post (formerly Twitter) allegedly posted by Jason Bateman slamming former US President and Republican nominee Donald Trump made the rounds on X on August 4, 2024.

The post backed Vice President Kamala Harris for the upcoming November elections, dubbing Trump a "fascist" who lost his mind due to "dangerous yellow hair dye."

X user @FaithRubPol posted a screenshot of the tweet allegedly sent out by Jason Bateman. However, the X post was not shared from the actor's official X account. His official X handle is @batemanjason and the screenshot showed the post was from an account with the username handle @batemanjayslam.

Also, a quick search on X reveals the account @batemanjayslam does not exist. Therefore, the alleged X post was likely doctored to look like it was posted by Jason Bateman.

Furthermore, the timestamp, date, and likes on the alleged post were inconsistent with X's usual format and clearly mentioned 'Parody' at the bottom. Notably, actor Jason Bateman last posted on X on May 21, 2024.

Jason Bateman will join the Comics for Kamala virtual rally

Since President Joe Biden withdrew from the 2024 elections and endorsed VP Kamala Harris on July 21, Harris has gained the support of many Hollywood celebrities, including Megan Thee Stallion, Carbi B, Quavo, Lil Nas X, and Plies.

Several celebrities banded together to raise money for her campaign. 'Comics for Kamala' is one such initiative, scheduled on August 5, 2024, at 8 pm Eastern Time.

According to Deadline's August 2 report, the event will see the likes of Jason Bateman, Ben Stiller, Patton Oswalt, Max Greenfield, Nick Offerman, and Cecily Strong, among others, join the Zoom call for the fundraising event.

The call was inspired by 'White Dudes for Harris', another initiative that focused on how and why white men in the US could support Harris in the November elections.

The three-hour live call held on July 29, raised over $4 million and was attended by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jeff Bridges, Mark Hamill, Josh Groban, Mark Ruffalo, and Sean Astin, among others. During the call, Gordon-Levitt called Trump "a con man," saying:

“This guy is a con man, of course he is. Look at his past business careers – he’s consistently screwed over his customers, his tenants, his employees. Look at his past presidency, where his signature programme was cutting taxes for rich people. Con man."

In addition to 'White Dudes for Harris' and 'Comics for Harris', the VP's team launched 'Republicans for Harris' on August 4, looking to gain votes from Republicans who did not want to support Trump.

According to AP News on August 4, Stephanie Grisham, Trump's former press secretary, is one of the many Republicans who endorsed Harris. She said in a statement:

“I might not agree with Vice President Kamala Harris on everything, but I know that she will fight for our freedom, protect our democracy and represent America with honor and dignity on the world stage.”

The US will pick its new president after the election on November 5, 2024.
