Venom: The Last Dance premiered its final trailer online yesterday, and it gave us our first look at the villain in the film, Knull. The God of Symbiotes, who was created by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman, is set to make his live-action debut in the upcoming film; however, it is unclear as of now exactly who will be playing him in the Tom Hardy-starrer.

However, after Venom: The Last Dance's final trailer was released, a rumor mentioned that Norman Reedus would be starring as Knull in the upcoming film. Unfortunately, the rumor is ultimately untrue, as the casting of Knull hasn't been revealed yet by Sony Pictures Entertainment or the makers behind the film.

While Norman Reedus' casting as Knull in the film could be kept as a surprise, there unfortunately isn't any proper confirmation as of now. To get to see who will be starring as Knull in the film, fans have to wait until the film eventually releases exclusively in theaters on October 25, 2024.

Who is Knull in Marvel comics?

Venom: The Last Dance's villain Knull was first retroactively mentioned in Thor: God of Thunder #6 in March 2013, but didn't make a full appearance until Venom (Vol. 4) #3 in June 2018. The character was created by writer Donny Cates and artist Ryan Stegman. In the comics, he is seen as the God of Symbiotes and was responsible for creating them as well.

He was primarily seen as an eldritch god of darkness and resided between the sixth and seventh Cosmoses, but he was disturbed when the Celestials came knocking at his door. Invading his kingdom, the Celestials wished for him to become the King in Black, but Knull didn't want to accept the responsibility and got on the bad side of the primordial beings.

Wielding the first symbiote ever, the Necrosword, Knull used that to behead a Celestial, and used the head to refine the symbiote sword. He then went on to wage his war on the Light and was feared by many across the universe. Unfortunately, his sword would be stolen from him by a nameless individual, and this left him stranded on an unknown planet as well.

However, on the planet, he began to experiment with his powers and found out that he could bond his living abyss with "lesser creatures" and could control them as well. It remains to be seen whether Venom: The Last Dance will follow this plot or not, but the trailer does explicitly mention him as the creator of the symbiote.
