Taylor Swift has recently boosted her immense popularity with the incredible Eras Tour and her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department. When rumors surrounding Taylor Swift making a cameo in the upcoming Deadpool film were floated around, fans of both Swift and the Deadpool franchise were ecstatic with joy.
However, there is disappointing news for fans of both Taylor Swift and Deadpool as it has been confirmed that the pop singer will not be seen in the upcoming film. Entertainment Weekly confirmed through an exclusive report that Taylor Swift will definitely not have a part in the upcoming installment of Deadpool titled Deadpool and Wolverine.
The third Deadpool film has kept fans excited about it as it sees the return of the iconic character Wolverine (played by Hugh Jackman). Although Swift will not be a part of the film, her influence is certainly being seen in the newly released Deadpool & Wolverine posters as it features the two titular characters wearing friendship bracelets, which are a signature of Swift's Eras Tour.
Why was it rumored that Taylor Swift would join Deadpool & Wolverine?
The rumors surrounding Taylor Swift joining Deadpool & Wolverine started during the last NFL season. Swift was spotted with Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds, his wife Blake Lively, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy (director of the film).
The group was spotted spending time together across different games when Swift was rooting for her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The most notable public occurrence of the group was during a Chiefs vs. Jets game on October 1, 2023.
Fans were left speculating that Swift might be a part of the upcoming Deadpool film deeming her to be fit for the part of the Marvel character The Dazzler (a mutant who can convert sound waves into energy beams). Similarly, many fans speculated that Swift could also play a variation of Deadpool; namely Lady Deadpool.
The flames of this rumor spread even more widely when a recent trailer of Deadpool & Wolverine teased the character of Lady Deadpool, coinciding with Swift being spotted with the Deadpool 3 gang.
The rumor mill churned out more speculation when Ryan Reynolds said the following during an interview with Fandango in May 2024:
"Movies like this, there's so much speculation about so many people that might end up in the film. I saw one that was convinced Elvis was in the movie. Anything can happen and that's sort of what I love about this universe. Surprises are the essence of Deadpool.”
However, it has been now confirmed that Swift will not be a part of the upcoming Deadpool film. Blake Lively and Taylor Swift have been close friends for a long time. The group might have been spending time together based on Lively and Swift's relationship rather than her involvement in the upcoming film.
