A trailer for a live-action movie based on The Simpsons has recently gone viral on different platforms. A YouTube channel called Multiverse of AI released the trailer, leading to speculations that a new film was possibly on the way.

Meanwhile, none of the speculations are true since the video is not a real trailer. It is a fan-made trailer, and the name of the YouTube channel clearly says everything. Apart from this, the channel has a lineup of videos in its collection that are made through AI.

Although the trailer has used AI to create the lead actors portraying the characters from The Simpsons, it has received more than 1 million views until now. The makers of the first Simpsons movie in 2007 have also not hinted anything towards a sequel.

However, the AI trailer started trending online specifically for the casting choices. It starts with the title appearing on screen, followed by an aerial shot that focuses on thousands of houses.

Audiences are then introduced to the characters one after another, starting with Adam Sandler playing Homer Simpson. This is followed by Kristen Wiig as Marge, Jacob Tremblay as Bart, and McKenna Grace as Lisa. The video continues with the appearances of Will Ferrell, Simon Pegg, Jordan Peele, Steve Buscemi, Neil Patrick Harris, and many others.

The AI video was titled The Simpsons by Adam Sandler and it ended directly after introducing all the characters. However, there was no release date mentioned and the producers of the film alongside the cast members and the faces featured in the AI trailer are yet to issue a response to the same.

Showrunner Al Jean is expecting a sequel to The Simpsons in the future

The Fox sitcom witnessed a change of showrunners throughout its run of 35 seasons and Al Jean served for the longest time in the position. While the sequel is yet to be confirmed, Jean appeared in an interview with Screenrant in May this year, addressing why a new film is taking so long.

Jean spoke up on his attraction to the animation industry, saying that it has worked perfectly on platforms like Disney+ and the same can be said for the big screen projects. He referred to The Simpsons sequel by saying,

"[We have not] formally [talked] about a movie, no. We're exploring different venues like this [the short] for presenting The Simpsons, but it'd be premature to say we had a movie script in development."

Back in 2021, Al Jean claimed in another conversation that a sequel to The Simpsons was being planned before the entire world came to a halt because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He told Comicbook at the time that he always prefers to watch animated films in theaters instead of on OTT platforms.

Jean said that the first film intended to bring a big screen experience and continued,

"I'm going to movies, I'm vaccinated. I'm really rooting for the movie industry, but I want to see what, personally, the landscape is. And then they also have so many great movies, I think they have five Avatar movies, five Star Wars movies in waiting… so they have a lot to roll out and we're going to go see Black Widow this weekend."

Notably, the first film based on The Simpsons came out back in 2007 and was successful, with collections of more than $500 million at the box office. The film was also a recipient of several accolades.
