On September 6, 2024, Netflix released the movie's official trailer. Viewers can watch Family Pack on the streaming platform from October 23, 2024. The screenplay of Family Pack is written by Hervé Marly and Philippe des Pallières, who are the creators of the original board game.
The movie was shot on a medieval set originally created for the 2017 historical drama film Knightfall. The team started shooting the movie primarily in Prague, in the summer of 2023. To create authentic medieval scenes, the movie was mainly shot in the Czech Republic. The primary locations included Výsluní u Chomutova, Drevníky and Zduchovice.
What is the plot of Family Pack?
Similar to the Jumanji franchise, Family Pack is based on a magical board game that transports an urban family back to the medieval ages. Millers Hollow is a gloomy medieval town haunted by werewolves after the sunset. The family has no other option but to survive being a part of the Dark Age, which is smeared with violence, horror, and live executions.
The members must find trusted people in the town, to reveal their secret that they came from the future. Even if it means surviving by using killing arrows or forming a pact with a deranged artist who loves dressing up. The film is originally named Les Loups Garous de Thiercelieux in French.
In a conversation with Le Parisien, published on July 4, 2023, director François Uzan expressed his prime idea behind developing Family Pack. He said,
“We could have put teenagers in a Scream-style house, or imagined a game of social massacre in a Haussmann living room… [but] we chose to make it an adventure and family film with humor and, of course, thrills."
