Netflix's Ferry 2 is worth a watch

As a viewer, you'll always be invested in the drama that unfolds in the film, largely due to the performance of Frank Lammers. Despite being on the wrong side of the law, the character would make you root for him. The main reason for that is this time he is not fighting against the authorities, but a much worse guy.

This time Ferry is powerless and only a shadow of what he used to be. He would rather spend his days in an RV than carry out drug deals. Due to this, as audiences viewers root for him to succeed. However, the film has many flaws, mostly in its uninspired writing and archetypal characters. Except for Ferry, none of the characters has the depth to intrigue the viewer.

For those who prefer watching a short crime drama without much subtext and a straightforward plot, this film can be a good watch for them. Those who are already a fan of the series must watch the movie to see how Ferry's journey unfolds after a decade of prison.

What is Ferry 2 about and what is its plot?

Ferry 2 began with Ferry spending his time in a remote village away from the life of drugs as, Andre. He was visited by his grandniece, Jezebel, whom he himself orphaned by killing her father, Jurgen. Jezebel and her boyfriend Jeremy, wants Ferry's help to get a large amount of money or drugs which they have promised a maniacal gangster as part of a business deal.

After the kids fail to deliver on time, the gangster Lex van Dun, beat up Jezebel brutally. Ferry is initially reluctant to help, but eventually, he gets on their side. However, Ferry Bowman isn't the drug lord he used to be and has grown old. All the important people in his life are gone and even his wife Daniella left him.

Ferry meets Lex and promises him to get the drugs, but only if the amount is doubled. At the meeting, he also sees his former associate, Dennis, who ratted him out to the police. Ferry, along with the kids, robbed the necessary material required to make the pills and set up a lab on a boat.

While Ferry and the team are cooking pills, Lex has other plans. He hires people to kill Ferry, but Ferry overhears their deal and offers the hitmen double the amount to kill Lex, which they accept. From there the story revolves around whether Ferry and the team will succeed or not.

The story weaves a crime drama with a familiar story set up in a bleak atmosphere. There is no surprise element in the plot and neither is there any action or drama sequence which would have a viewer's jaw drop. Ferry 2 is about an old gang boss doing his last gig under desperate circumstances to do good for someone, whom he had wronged.
