Find Me Falling ending explained: The perfect love song to win it all

Netflix has added Find Me Falling to its library on July 19, 2024. Directed by Stelana Kliris, the film stars Harry Connick Jr. as John a famous NYC rockstar, who comes to Cyprus to take a break from music.

However, fate has better things planned for John. In Cyprus, he meets The Girl on The Beach Sia (played by Agni Scott) after decades, and also his daughter Melina (played by Ali Fumiko Whitney) for the first time.

The movie ends with John’s unreleased song Find Me Falling finally reuniting the family. The lyrics of Find Me Falling not only prove to Sia that John wants to stay with her and still loves her, but also send Melina on her path to garner the long-awaited fame.

John meets Melina for the first time

The movie starts with John Allman, a famous NYC musician who has come to Cyprus to take a break from his musical career. John has bought the wrong house next to a cliff in Cyprus, which is a suicide hotspot. John tries to build a fence around the cliff to stop further suicides.

In Cyprus, he meets Melina for the first time, as she comes to deliver his groceries. She tells John that he needs a new lover to learn a new language.

John's reunites with Sia and meets Melina again

John meets Manoli, the police officer, who seems impressed by him after he stops a lady from committing suicide. Later that night, Manoli takes John to a party in Cyprus where he meets Melina once more.

While Manoli introduces John to his guests at the party, John meets Sia, the girl on the beach, who left her behind and the same girl who stayed behind. While John calls the girl from his hit an imaginary one, he knows that he is lying to himself and Sia.

Soon, when John is about to leave, Sia runs to him and stops him. The two then kiss and later spend the night together, reminiscing old memories and how John would mispronounce her name Athanasia as Euthanasia. The same night, Sia also asks John why he has come back, however, John does not answer.

Sia thinks music is the love of John's life. The lovers then talk about reasons why they have still not married. John reveals how he did not find the right match and Sia claims the same.

The next morning, John vibes with the grocery girl Melina once again. He reveals to her how he met the girl on the beach before he got all the fame. John also reveals that Sia (The Girl On The Beach) loved him for who he was. Soon, John grabs his guitar and sings Find Me Falling for the first time, at Melina's request.

John is still not aware of Sia’s daughter Melina. Melina, who has come to John's house to deliver groceries, convinces John to pick up his guitar and play a few songs, after which she would cook dinner for him and his date.

However, Sia shows up early for the date while Melina is still in John's house. Manoli’s sister also arrives at the same time, messing up John's date, as there is complete confusion between the three ladies and John being under the same roof.

Soon the scene shifts to Sia revealing to John about Melina. Melina is Sia and John's daughter. Sia tells John that she had even gone to New York to tell him about Melina years ago, but seeing John’s rockstar lifestyle and all the girls surrounding him for his fame, she didn’t tell him about Melina.

She adds that she told Melina previously that her father was just her summertime fling.

Back to the bar with big revelations

Once again, John, Sia, and Melina are all under the same roof. Melina sings John’s The Girl on the Beach song in front of the guests and Sia. She wants John to sing it with her, which doesn't turn out to be a great idea.

John is intoxicated when he grabs the mic and reveals the 'daughter secret' to everyone at the bar and now Melina knows she is John and Sia's daughter. The Girl on The Beach is none other than her mom Sia.

When the secret behind Melina’s singing genes finally gets revealed, Sia tries to explain to Melina how rock stars don’t make good fathers. However, Melina doesn’t agree with Sia. She wants her to give a chance to John, which she never did in the past.

Later in the film, John gets a call from his producer who tells him how his new song can earn him all the fame back, and perhaps be the next billboard hit.

John plays the savior yet again

John saves a pregnant girl from committing suicide and lets her stay in his house as she reveals how she has no place to go. As she sleeps on the sofa, John watches over her. The next morning while they both have breakfast, the girl talks about her life and also seems intrigued with John’s athanasia tattoo.

Later, John goes to drop her home and finds out she is Manoli’s daughter Anna. Anna reveals how John saved her life, however, Manoli calls his unborn grandchild a catastrophe. As the mother takes her daughter in, Manoli keeps cursing her. Soon the scene shifts to Anna who is in labor. Sia who is a doctor, delivers the baby.

John decides to leave Sia once again

When John goes to the hospital to meet Manoli and Co, he finds Sia there. Here, John reveals to Sia that he will be leaving soon. He also talks about his big opportunity back in New York, with his new album. Sia isn't pleased by his decision. Later, the scene shifts to John holding Manoli’s grandchild who is now named after him.

Later, John breaks the fence and as the sun shines, he goes to Melina. He apologizes to her and tells her that does not know how he can become a good father overnight but he will try.

John sings a Greek love song for Sia

John goes outside Sia’s window and sings a Greek love song, the same one Melina had sung in the bar earlier. Melina joins him to impress Sia together.

Sia finally gets impressed, ready to forgive John, who had humiliated her in front of everyone at the bar and also abandoned her and her unborn daughter the last time. At this point, it seems like their love story will have a perfect end.

However, Sia stops her emotions from opening the door and reuniting with John. John is disappointed at his failed attempt. He hands the transcript of his unreleased song Find Me Falling to Melina and walks away.

Later Sia reveals to Melina how doesn’t believe John has changed, even though he has waited a lifetime and crossed an ocean, until Melina hands over the lyrics of Find Me Falling to her.

Find Me Falling

The next morning, Sia goes to John’s house and they finally reunite with a never-ending kiss. The movie ends with Melina getting fame as she records Find Me Falling in a studio for the first time in her musical career. John and Sia Facetime her, and reveal to her how much they love her new song.

The movie ends with John, Sia, and Manoli all celebrating. John's song Find Me Falling not only reunites him with Sia but also makes him a perfect father to Manila.

With John being away for the initial years Manila had no one to guide her musical career and Sia had no one to love her. With John back on the island with no hope of reuniting with his girl on the beach, he finally does reunite with her and their story has a perfect ending.

The movie closes with Sia and John finally together and Manila ready to take over the world with her father's song Find Me Falling.
