Gladiator 2: Release date, where to watch, plot, and more

Ridley Scott is set to take viewers back to ancient Rome, as Gladiator 2 (or as seen as Gladiator II on promotional material) is all set to hit the theatres this month. Picking up over two decades after the events of the first film, the movie will focus on the son of Maximus (played by Russell Crowe in the original Gladiator), Lucius as he embarks on a journey of vengeance to overthrow emperors.

Fans have been demanding a Gladiator 2 for years now, and they will soon get to see it when the film is released on the big screens on November 22, 2024, in the US, and earlier in other regions as well. Starring Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, and more, the film has been directed by Ridley Scott and will be distributed by Paramount Pictures.

Gladiator 2 release date explored

The film will be exclusively available to watch on the big screens on November 22, 2024, in USA. However, outside of the country, the film will be hitting the big screens a week before. In the United Kingdom and India, Gladiator 2 will be released in theatres on November 15, 2024, whereas in Australia and New Zealand the film will release on November 14, 2024.

A sequel to Gladiator was being discussed as early as back in June, 2001. However, not much development on it took place and the project was put to a halt when the rights to it were sold off to Paramount Pictures by Dreamworks in 2006.

In 2018, the film was finally announced and in January, 2023, Paul Mescal was cast in the movie. Following that, the rest of the cast signed on as well and in June, 2023, the filming took place. It was one of the films to be affected by the 2023 Hollywood writers' and actors' strike as well.
