Never Let Go follows a family that's been haunted by a persistent spirit for many years. In the movie, Halle Berry stars as a mother who, along with her twin sons, confronts all the threats from the sinister force. Things take a turn when one of the sons starts doubting the existence of the spirit, shaking the foundation of their once-solid family bond. The doubt further leads to a series of frightening events that push the family to the very edge.

As the disbelief of the son grows, the spirit's attacks get worse. It shows the film's key theme, which is the importance of belief when facing the unknown. The skepticism threatens their safety. It tests the strength of their family ties as they fight to stay connected amid overwhelming fear.

Directed by Alexandre Aja, known for his horror hits like High Tension and The Hills Have Eyes, Never Let Go promises a mix of psychological terror and intense family drama. Aja explores how fear and doubt can change family dynamics, adding depth to the horror story.

The setting mostly comprises dim lighting and claustrophobic spaces. It adds to the eerie atmosphere and turns the family's home into a crucial part of the story. This backdrop is where most of the terrifying events unfold, ramping up the suspense and fear.

Never Let Go stands out in the horror-thriller category. It covers complex emotional themes with traditional elements of the genre. It examines the consequences of doubt and fear, but it also celebrates the togetherness of a family under supernatural assault.

Never Let Go is set to hit theaters across the United States on September 27, 2024. The release date marks a major moment as it takes the slot originally reserved for Saw XI. It indicates that the studio has high expectations from this particular film.

The production journey began with the script's acquisition by 21 Laps Entertainment in 2020, followed by changes in the directorial role and the final cast setting. The film's shooting wrapped up in mid-2023 after extensive work in Vancouver, setting the stage for post-production and this highly anticipated release.

The decision to make this film began way before the trailer release. In August 2020, Shawn Levy's 21 Laps Entertainment acquired a horror screenplay titled Mother Land, written by Kevin Coughlin and Ryan Grassby, with plans for Lionsgate Films to handle distribution.

By April 2021, Mark Romanek was onboard as the director, but he exited the project shortly after, in May 2021. Alexandre Aja then took over the directorial role, with Halle Berry being announced as part of the cast.

During the Cannes Film Festival in June 2022, Lionsgate sold the international distribution rights to several companies. In April 2023, actors Percy Daggs IV and Anthony B. Jenkins were added to the cast of the film, which had been retitled Never Let Go.
