Tommy Wirkola's 2013 action-horror dark fantasy, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, brings a more adventurous continuation to the famous German folk fairy tale about the Hansel and Gretel siblings.
15 years from when they escaped a tragic fate at the hands of the candy witch, Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton claim the titular roles of the brother-sister duo who are now professional, shotgun-armed bounty hunters. They go around the Germanic village trying to find and kill any witch they come across.
An impressive cast list joins Renner and Arterton, including Famke Janssen, Pihla Viitala, Peter Stormare, Ingrid Borso Berdal, Joanna Kulig, and more.

1) Jeremy Renner as Hansel Grimm
Jeremy Renner is best known as Hawkeye in The Avengers movies and his titular TV series. He's also been in dozens of films and TV shows like The Bourne Legacy, American Hustle, and Mission Impossible. Most recently, he starred as Mike McLusky in Mayor of Kingstown.
In the action-adventure film, Renner is half of the witch-hunting duo who go about town trying to find witches and blow them into smoke.
2) Gemma Arterton as Gretel
Gemma Arterton won Best Actress at the British Independent Films for her portrayal of Tara in The Escape. The English actress was also the Best Newcomer at the 2009 Empire Awards and has received numerous nods for her acting prowess, including the BAFTA's Rising Star Award. Janssen plays Muriel in Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, and is a grand witch who can change her appearance anytime.
4) Pihla Viitala as Mina
Finnish actress and director Pihla Viitala is best known for her character Sofia Karppi in the Finnish crime drama series Deadwind, for which she won a Best Actress award. The movie star has also appeared in numerous films and shows, like Arctic Circle, Money Shot, Kasky, and Latin Lover.
Viitala's Mina is a white witch in Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, who was accused of being a witch. She later helped Hansel, whom she saw hanging from a tree, helping him heal his wounds, and later, blessed Hansel's weapons and helped him kill some of the witches.
5) Peter Stormare as Sheriff Berringer
Peter Stormare has been part of many impressive projects that earned him wins and nods for Best Actor and Outstanding Performance, like Varg, Chocolat, and Small Town Murder Songs. He also joined the all-star cast of the Jamie Foxx-led comedy Day Shift.
In Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, Stormare's character as Sheriff Berringer was first seen accusing Mina of being one of the witches. He convinced the townspeople that she was a witch and needed to be convicted, only for him to get killed by Edward after he and his men attacked Gretel.
6) Derek Mears as Edward
American actor and stuntman Derek Mears is a mainstay in action, horror, and science-fiction projects, like Swamp Thing, Alita Battle Angel, Predators, Friday the 13th, Agents of SHIELD, and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. Most recently, he was Simeon in the Netflix sci-fi Rebel Moon - Part One.

7) Ingrid Bolso Berdal as Horned Witch
Norwegian actress Ingrid Bolso Berdal started her acting career in the short film Limbo, which premiered in 2005, and she's been in over 40 projects on film and TV since. Some of her notable acting credits are Chernobyl Diaries, Hercules, Witch Hunt, and Stardust. She won Best Actress in the Norwegian Amanda Award in 2007 and 2009 for Cold Prey and Cold Prey 2.
Berdal is the horned witch in Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, who Muriel sent to capture the children during the Blood Moon Sabbath, but was later trapped by the sibling witch hunters.

8) Joanna Kulig as Red-Haired Witch
Polish actress and singer Joanna Kulig starred in the 2018 film Cold War, which earned her Best Actress wins in several Film Awards. She also has acting credits in over 50 shows and films like O mine sie nie martw, Kompromat, and Masters of the Air.
In Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, Kulig is the red-haired witch who works with Muriel. They created a fire to distract the townspeople on the day of the Blood Moon Sabbath.
