Hounds of War is a war action movie, directed by Isaac Florentine, released on September 20, 2024. Written by Jean Pierre Magro, the film narrates the story of Ryder, a battle mercenary who embarks on a journey, to get revenge for his family and entire team, who were killed by a planned execution.
Ryder and his friends were part of a battle mercenary group called "The Hounds". The team, after completing many successful tasks, is invited by Colonel Hart for one last mission. However, the team soon comprehends that the entire task is a trap, set by Hart and higher government officials to eliminate them.
Ryder remains the only person to survive the ambush and stays undercover for the next six months. Finally, at the end of Hounds of War, Ryder succeeds in taking his revenge by setting Colonel Hart's car on fire, while he is on a vacation to Havana, Cuba. Ryder also exposes the corrupt President, the mastermind behind the plan.

Why does Ryder come to Malta?
After an initial action scene at the beginning of the movie, the viewers are taken six months back. Ryder lands in Malta from the United States and gets his documents verified. Soon he meets his brother and his wife, who is pregnant. The scene, in the beginning, feels like a family reunion but with their conversations, one perceives that Ryder has come to Malta on a mission.
Ryder is a trained mercenary, having achieved many successful war missions. After losing many men on his last mission to Syria, he finally wanted to retire from the job. But Ryder is called by Colonel Hart for one last mission, after which his team can finally get away from this line of business.
The mercenaries are assigned by Hart for "Operation Brimstone", where they are tasked to hunt down a terrorist. Khalid Mustafa Atef was a simple farmer who went on to become one of the most powerful warlords in Libya. As per Hart, China and Russia have very strong interests in that region and need to be eliminated.
The mercenaries gear up their weapons and are dropped in a location, on the outskirts of Sirte. After killing a few guards, the team located Mustafa's office. But right when Santiago finds the laptop in the room and tries to crack its password, it triggers an explosive, blasting the entire room.
Soon the Hounds realize, they are the ones being hunted down this time, and Colonel Hart is behind it. Soon Mustafa's soldiers block all the exit locations and start eliminating the team. Ryder remains the sole survivor after his brother sacrifices himself.
Ryder plans his revenge for his team
Everyone on the team is pronounced dead after that mission. Colonel Hart doesn't even spare Jenna, shooting her from behind. Ryder goes undercover and for the next six months gathers intel about every person involved in the elimination trap of his team.
He finds out, that along with Colonel Hart, a higher government official named Joshua Reed, and the President of the United States were involved in the plan. Ryder decodes the corrupted politics behind appointing the mercenaries for all of their missions. The authorities didn't want to leave any living trace of all the crimes they had committed through the Hounds.
Ryder, having lost his entire team, needed a new one. So, after much struggle, he manages to get in touch with his old co-worker and romantic interest Selina. With the help of Selina and her team, Ryder plans to break the corrupted system and expose the President for his crimes.
Ryder exposes the corrupt government during the ending of Hounds of War
After narrating the past events, Hounds of War shifts back to six months later, in the present. The President has arrived in Malta for an official visit, and the team takes this opportunity to abduct him. Colonel Hart gets the intel that Ryder is alive and sends his forces to kill him.
He manages to escape but is shot on the way. Selina saves his life and Ryder still recovering, manages to be present with his sniper on target, right when the President addresses the public. He shoots the President, without killing him and Selina's team manages to abduct him, disguised as medical emergency officials.
When the President is held hostage, he starts spitting all the facts. The President, along with Colonel Hart and Joshua Reed have sanctioned several unauthorised crimes for several years.
These were responsible for numerous deaths of innocent people, including Ryder's family and team. All of this is recorded on camera, which is shared with the journalist Maria. Soon the criminals are exposed in the international media.
The President is found guilty, and Joshua Reed shoots himself. During the ending scene of Hounds of War, Ryder follows Colonel Hart to Havana, Cuba. Ryder had fixed an explosive underneath his car and pressed the button right when Hart entered inside, killing him.
Ryder finally succeeds in taking revenge for his team and family. Hounds of War ends with Ryder and Selina finally together in a car leaving their past behind.
