House of Ga’a: Full list of cast

Netflix has added House of Ga’a to its library on July 26, 2024. The film is directed by Bolanle Austen-Peters and stars Femi Branch, Ibrahim Chatta and Mike Afolarin, among others.

House of Ga’a takes us back to the 18th century where we witness the corrupt rule of Gaa and his exploitations. The synopsis of House of Ga’a as per Rotten Tomatoes reads:

"Bashorun Gaa recounts the rise and fall of a ruthless kingmaker who wielded deceit and voodoo to reign, only to be undone by his own blood."

The film holds a poxier IMDb rating of 4.2/10.

House of Ga’a: Cast List

1) Femi Branch as Ga’a

Femi Branch is a 54-year-old actor and director from Sagamu, Nigeria. Branch has been a part of movies and shows, including Adire (2023), Love is War (2019), A Place in the Stars (2014) and more.

In House of Ga’a, he stars as the titular character in the film ~Ga’a or Bashorun Ga, the military leader of the Oyo empire. The film shows his selfish tactics, hunger for power and corruption that prevailed during his reign in the 18th century.

Ga’a is portrayed as a selfish husband and father and an over-ambitious leader who could never accept defeat. However, fate had his ruin incoming as we see his downfall and death in the movie eventually.

2) Mike Afolarin as Oyemekun

The 30-year-old actor Mike Afolarin from Lagos has starred in movies and shows like Far From Home (2022), The Wait (2021), and Kasala! (2018), among other films.

Mike Afolarin stars in House of Ga’a as one of Ga’a’s sons, named Oyemekun. Oyemekun is not a great warrior, but that doesn’t stop him from yielding his sword. In the film, Oyemekun falls in love with Princess Agbonyin but never gets the chance to marry her because of Ga’a.

When Agbonyin dies in the film, Oyemekun comes back to Oyo, kills Sasa and goes to kill Ga’a, which turns out to be a failed attempt. Oyemekun narrates the downfall of Ga’a in the film, being the only living child of Ga’a after the attack on Oyo.

3) Tosin Adeyemi as Zeinab

Tosin Adeyemi is a Nigerian actress who recently featured on the cover page of La Veronica Magazine (digital issue 61).

Tosin Adeyemi stars as Zeinab in House of Ga’a. Zeinab in the film is a slave who is brought to Oyo after the death of the Nupe King. Ga’a initially wants to treat her like a slave and invites her to his bedroom but when Ga’s wives torture Zeinab because of her closeness to Ga’a, he saves her from them and claims her as his new wife.

Throughout the film, Zeinab is the only wife who stays alongside Ga’a and helps him even after he's paralyzed.

4) Ibrahim Chatta as Sasa L’eniyan

Actor/ producer Ibrahim Chatta has been a part of movies like King of Thieves (2022), Jagun Jagun (2023), Adire (2023) and more.

In House of Ga’a, he stars as Sasa, the notorious black magic master. Sasa helps Ga’a eliminate anyone coming his way. Even before Ga’a got paralyzed, he wanted him about the consequences.

Sasa fails to revive Ga’a with his potions and magic. Sasa is the reason why Princess Agbonyin dies, which makes Oyemukun gut Sasa on his return.
