Saturday Night Fever is a dance drama film directed by John Badham from a screenplay by Norman Wexler. The film, starring John Travolta and Karen Gorney, became a cultural phenomenon due to its iconic soundtrack composed by Bee Gees and David Shire.

In the film, John Travolta plays Tony Manero, a young Italian-American who, along with his friends, spends his weekends at a local discothèque dancing his struggles and stress away.

The film was released with the tagline 'Catch It,' representing the themes that dealt with the working-class youth's struggles and ambitions during the 70s disco era. During the December 26, 2024, episode of the NBC quiz show Jeopardy!, a question was asked about the film, reviving the Saturday Night Fever nostalgia.

The film is essentially a tragic story about the dreams and aspirations of the working-class youth, who find liberty and expression through music and dance. Bee Gees wrote and recorded five songs that were used in the film, including Stayin' Alive, Night Fever, How Deep Is Your Love, More Than a Woman, and If I Can't Have You. Two other pre-released Bee Gees songs were also used in the film, and the rest of the music was done by David Shire. According to the Library of Congress, the album has sold over 40 million copies.

However, tragedy lurks in the shadow of Tony as the reality of his life hits.

The film is available on Apple TV+. The platform describes the plot of the film as:

"Every Saturday Tony puts on his wide-collared shirt, flared trousers, and platform shoes and heads out to the only place he's seen as a god rather than some young punk. But in the darkness, away from the strobe lights and glitter ball, is a tragic story of disillusionment, violence, and heartbreak."
