The legendary comedian John Belushi died at the age of 33 back in 1982. His Instagram and Facebook handles, managed by his estate, released a statement announcing his wife's passing on Saturday as it read:

"Today, our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to our sweet Judy. Her unwavering dedication and creative genius alongside Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi gave birth to The Blues Brothers, a timeless testament to the power of music and laughter."

The statement continued:

"In the years following John’s passing in 1982, Judy honored his life and championed his legacy and Blues Brothers brand. As we bid farewell, we pledge to continue her work, ensuring that John’s legacy, and the Blues Brothers will never fade."

It further stated that there was no one like Judy, who made "everyone feel loved." The statement described her as "nonjudgmental, light, funny and pure". Apart from the statement, Belushi's estate also shared a few pictures of the couple together.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Pisano married John Belushi in 1973, and was with him until his passing in 1982. She later married producer Victor Pisano in 1990 and the duo parted ways in 2010.

As mentioned earlier, Pisano had four kids, Luke, Vanessa, Rebecca, and Jessica. She was also grandmother to Avery, Ella, Logan, Olivia, Henry, and Nico. According to Luke Pisano's statement to The Martha's Vineyard Times, the actress and producer was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in 2020.

Judy Belushi-Pisano battled the disease for years and entered hospice care last year. According to Luke, she passed away surrounded by her family. He called her a "great mother, beloved sister, [and] a special person" as he told the publication:

"We’re going to miss her company terribly."

As per the outlet, Judy Belushi-Pisano found work as a radio producer while Belushi became a successful comedian. The duo moved to Martha's Vineyard in 1974. In a 2020 interview with People magazine, Judy opened up about her late husband and called him "perfect."

"But he was a full human being — caring and adventurous and kind. And he not only made people laugh, he made them feel," she continued.

Judy is known for her work alongside John on iconic films like The Blues Brothers and National Lampoon’s Animal House. When Belushi was a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1975 to 1979, the duo used to host Saturday Night Live afterparties together.

As per The Martha's Vineyard Times, Judy was also very active in the arts, being a member of an Island band called Ukeladies. The outlet reported that she was working on an album before her passing. Luke Pisano told the outlet that he planned on releasing his mother's album posthumously alongside Island musician Ben Taylor.

Judy Belushi-Pisano is survived by her four children, six grandchildren, and three older siblings, Patricia Brewster, Pamela Jacklin, and Robert Jacklin.
