On August 29, actress Leah Remini announced on social media (X and Instagram) that she was divorcing her husband and actor Angelo Pagan after being married for over two decades. She posted a lengthy joint statement from herself and her ex-spouse, sharing two pictures of them, one old and another recent.
“After 28 years together and 21 years of marriage, we have decided to file for divorce. This decision came after a lot of thought and care, and as hard as divorce is, we are approaching this with a positive outlook because we know it’s what’s best for us. We are proud of how we have worked through this together,” the post read.
As per the post, they decided to divorce after realizing they both “changed, as people do” and were no longer eager to keep “playing roles that didn’t fit us anymore.”
“Our bond is still strong—it’s just evolved into something different. We think a marriage that lasted this long and created so many beautiful memories, especially raising our incredible daughter, is something to celebrate. From our perspective, this marriage was a huge success.”
Leah Remini and Angelo Pagan share a 20-year-old daughter, Sofia.
As per the joint statement, they are trying to embrace the “new normal” while continuing to be “best friends” and co-parents, “celebrating holidays together, watching our favorite TV shows together, and gathering as a family.”
They also mentioned how, despite being “sad,” they were hopeful and were looking forward to the upcoming chapters of their lives, and “inspire” others that relationships may “change or end,” but that doesn’t necessarily mean they failed.
