Kris Kristofferson may be most well-known for his work as a country singer. However, he also flawlessly balanced a successful acting career alongside. Kris Kristofferson passed away recently at the age of 88, with the official statement regarding his death claiming that it occurred ‘peacefully.’
The singer/actor leaves behind a loving family which includes his wife Lisa, eight children, and seven grandchildren. The official statement read the following, according to The Guardian:
“We’re all so blessed for our time with him. Thank you for loving him all these many years, and when you see a rainbow, know he’s smiling down at us all.”
While his music career kickstarted in 1970 via his studio album Kristofferson, he quickly established himself as an actor as well. Kris Kristofferson’s first role in Hollywood came in the 1971 movie, The Last Movie, after which he was seen in countless projects.
His most recent acting credit came in the form of 2018’s Blaze, in which he was seen as Edwin Fuller. All in all, Kristofferson appeared in a total of 87 movies, in addition to a vast portfolio of television films and cameos in various TV series.

Kris Kristofferson was widely regarded as one of the pioneers of country music. He was a stalwart behind the outlaw country movement of the 1970s, and had a total of 13 Grammy nominations, including three actual wins.
However, his acting career also had plenty of highlights. He started in the industry by playing a minor role in 1971’s The Last Movie, which was followed by his work in movies such as Cisco Pipe in 1972, and A Star is Born in 1976.
The latter, in which he played the role of John Norman Howard, won him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. Further, it established him as a stalwart in the industry, as he continued to find stellar work following the 1976 flick.
During the 1970s and the 80s, Kristofferson appeared in movies such as Semi-Tough, Convoy, and Heaven’s Gate. However, it was his work in the Blade franchise that proved to be his most recognizable acting credit during this period. He played the role of Abraham Whistler in the original Blade movie in 1998, and reprised the role in 2002’s Blade II, and 2004’s Blade: Trinity.
Of course, some of his more modern work includes movies such as 2011’s Dolphin Tale, as he reprised his role in the sequel as well. In addition to his work in cinema, Kris Kristofferson also appeared in minor roles in multiple TV series.
This includes 1979’s Freedom Road, and the 1987 miniseries Amerika. Further, Kristofferson was seen as US President Andrew Jackson in the 2015 miniseries, Texas Rising. Finally, his vast acting credits also include voice-acting roles in video games such as 2005’s Gun, and 2010’s Fallout: Las Vegas.
Hence, while he passed at the age of 88, Kristofferson had already established a sprawling legacy in Hollywood and beyond. This, comes alongside his work as a country musician, with his albums such as The Old Road and Blood & Orchids endearing him to his listeners.
