Chapter 2 of Horizon: An American Saga will be released across theaters on Friday, August 16, 2024. The film series will depict the settlement of the American West in a pre and post-Civil War setting.

The synopsis of the film reads:

"Horizon: An American Saga explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won—and lost—through the blood, sweat and tears of many. Spanning the four years of the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, Costner's ambitious cinematic adventure will take audiences on an emotional journey across a country at war with itself, experienced through the lens of families, friends and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America."

The film depicts 12 years, featuring various characters as they venture into new territories. It showcases stories from the perspective of the settlers and the native people of America, along with the bloody history that came before the creation of what the nation stands for contemporarily.

The first part of the film was screened at the 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival and received a seven-minute standing ovation, which made Costner overwhelmed and emotional.

Yes, Kevin Costner's 15-year-old son, Hayes Costner, will play a small part in the upcoming film. His son joined an ensemble cast consisting of Kevin Costner himself, Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Ella Hunt, Luke Wilson, and Isabelle Fuhrman, among others.

As per Kevin Costner, he cast his son in the film to spend more time with him. He also stated that Hayes Costner has portrayed his role in the film with confidence. In an exclusive interview with Today magazine, the actor said:

"I selfishly wanted him with me for the week, two weeks he was with me. We would drive to the set every day... he didn't have a lot of experience, but he's really beautiful in the movie."

Hayes Costner is one of Kevin's three children, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner. Kevin Costner has seven children with two ex-wives, and Hayes Costner is his youngest son.

Despite Hayes Costner's presence in the film, Horizon: An American Saga is not meant for children as it has received an 'R' certification in the USA. The film has been rated as an adult film since it contains explicit violence and nudity. The film contains gore and explicit language, which has been associated with films of the Western genre.
