With the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have made their official entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This has opened another dimension of possibilities. There are two post credit scenes in Deadpool & Wolverine
When Deadpool & Wolverine are busting and slicing heads in The Void, they come across Chris Evans. He is high up in the tower, hidden in a cloak and Deadpool expects him to say "Avengers, assemble!"
Soon they find out that he is Johnny Storm, the Human Torch from the Fantastic Four when he says "Flame On!" instead. After Wolverine slits the head off Sabertooth, they are caught and taken to a facility, made around the corpse of an Ant-Mann from another universe.
Inside they meet Cassandra Nova, Charles Xavier's evil twin sister. Deadpool soon showers her with insults and blames it all on Johnny. Though he detests and denies it, Johnny soon stripped out of his skin making his organs fall into a bloody pile of slime.
The audience feels Deadpool to be the reason behind Johnny getting killed but during the post-credit scenes, Deadpool finally plays a clip at the TVA headquarters, where we see Johnny insulting Cassandra.
Disney gives a tribute to 20th Century Fox
As the movie ends, Green Day's 1997 song Good Riddance (Time of Your Life), begins to play in the background, and very nostalgic clips begin to roll on the screen.
Deadpool & Wolverine is the last piece of the long 20th Century Fox franchise of Marvel movies. Disney, after buying Marvel back in 2009, had also bought Fox in March 2019. This handed over the rights to all of its superheroes to the animation giant. It ended the legacy of Fox superhero movies that included the X-Men and Fantastic Four.
The post-credit scene was a tribute to all those characters and stories. We see a collage of behind-the-scenes shots, from movies made by Fox. Hugh Jackman auditioning for Wolverine back in the 2000 first X-Men movie, and Chris Evans playing the Human Torch in the 2005 Fantastic Four brings back memories from the early days of Fox.
The movie brought back earlier characters such as Elektra, Dr. Blade, and Wolverine's clone daughter X-23. Finally, it fulfilled Channing Tatum's long wish to play Gambit, which remained an incomplete production after Disney acquired Fox.
Deadpool & Wolverine is a must-watch for all the fans finding themselves lost in its timelines and characters overlapping with each other. It ends on an optimistic note - that we would finally be able to see the heroes finding their homes again. Deadpool & Wolverine is a huge step towards Marvel's Phase Five movies, with now the two adamantium regenerative faulty superheroes joining the team.
