Ben Affleck got married to Jennifer Garner on June 29, 2005. The two had previously worked together on Pearl Harbor and Daredevil, the latter of which was notable for the romantic tension between Affleck's Daredevil and Garner's Electra. The two married each other in a private ceremony on the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Over the course of their marriage, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner had three children: Violet Anne Affleck, born December 2005, Fin Affleck, born January 2009, and Samuel Garner Affleck, born February 2012.

Ben and Jennifer announced their separation in June 2015, with Ben moving out to a guesthouse in the family home until 2017. In April 2017, the two filed for divorce and sought joint physical and legal custody of their children. Ben reflected on the divorce in a February 2020 interview with The New York Times. He said:

“The biggest regret of my life is this divorce. Shame is really toxic. There is no positive byproduct of shame. It’s just stewing in a toxic, hideous feeling of low self-worth and self-loathing.”

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez's relationship has received considerable media attention throughout its duration. The two starred in the 2001 film Gigli, which was widely panned by critics at the time. Their relationship entered the public eye in July 2002, when Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from her then-husband, Cris Judd.

After Gigli, the two co-starred in Kevin Smith's Jersey Girl (2004), and Jennifer Lopez's music video for Jenny from the Block. Jennifer also released her album This is Me...Then in November 2002, which was heavily influenced by her relationship with Affleck at the time.

Also in November 2002, the two became engaged to each other, and the planned wedding whipped up a media frenzy, only to be called off in January 2004. In 2008, Affleck shared his thoughts on his relationship with Lopez on the British TV series Live. He said:

"I think Jen and I made a mistake in that we fell in love, we were excited and maybe too accessible. I don't think either of us anticipated the degree to which it would take on a world of its own."

The two do not share a child, however, Ben is a stepfather to Jennifer's twins from a prior marriage with Marc Anthony. Prior to filing for divorce recently, the couple had reportedly separated on April 26, 2024.
