After a long wait of about eight years, Moana 2 has been released as a sequel to the hit 2016 animated musical adventure film Moana. The movie takes place three years after the events of the first film, and we see Moana as a hero to the girls on the Pacific island. However, she is still looking for more from the world.

When Heihei discovers a piece of pottery that reveals that there are other tribes out there, Moana sets out with her crew to find the lost island of Motufetū that connects the people of the ocean. On the other hand, Maui is desperately in need of Moana's help.

After releasing in theaters on November 27, 2024, Moana 2 is arriving on digital streaming via premium video on demand on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

Moana 2 digital release details explored

Moana 2 will be made available to watch on digital from Tuesday, January 28, 2025. It will become available to own on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD from Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

It will be available to rent on certain PVOD platforms like Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, and YouTube TV. The digital purchase price has not been revealed but generally, new PVOD titles range from $19.99 to $29.99. Digital rentals are usually available in the range of $14.99 to $24.99 for a 48-hour period.

The digital and Blu-ray releases will bring viewers some bonus content, including a full-length sing-along version, some deleted scenes from the movie, and also behind-the-scenes videos.

Since it is a Disney movie, Moana 2 will also be made available to watch on Disney Plus. The streaming release date for the movie has not been announced yet. A Disney Plus subscription starts at $9.99 per month with ads and the Premium tier with no ads costs $15.99 a month or $159.99 per year.
