Teddy's Christmas is set to reach a broader audience in the US with its digital release on multiple streaming platforms and availability on DVDs, starting December 3, 2024. The film will be offered for purchase and rental on DVDs while streaming options (which may include both renting and purchasing) will be available on platforms such as Amazon Prime Video and Plex.

Although audiences are excited for the film to be made available on additional platforms, they do not expect any confirmations regarding the same anytime soon, based on previous trends. What is Teddy's Christmas about?

Teddy's Christmas is written by Harald Rosenløw Eeg and Lars Gudmestad and directed by Andrea Eckerbom. It chronicles eight-year-old Mariann who is fascinated by the sight of a talking teddy bear after having crossed paths with the same during a carnival. She wants to have the teddy as a friend, however, several obstacles prevent her from doing so. The movie explores what happens next.

Its official synopsis reads:

"While visiting a Christmas market in her Norwegian town, eight-year-old Mariann suddenly sees an unbelievable sight: on the top shelf of a carnival game booth, the most adorable stuffed teddy bear has just moved his head and sneezed. Feeling an instant connection with the living stuffed-animal, Mariann can’t think of any better Christmas wish than to win him as a prize".

It continues by saying:

"But when someone else wins Teddy, it’s up to him and his new hedgehog friend, Bolla, to reconnect with Mariann and discover the true importance of family and friendship."

The cast of the film

There are not many notable differences between the Norwegian and US versions of the movie, except for Teddy's voice, who is the only animated character in the film. In the Norwegian version, the character is voiced by John Brungot, while Zachary Levi voices him in the English version.

The remaining cast of the film includes:

  • Marte Klerck-Nilssen: Mariann
  • Vegard Strand Eide: Mariann's brother
  • Mariann Hole: Hilma, Marinann's mother
  • Jan Gunnar Røise: Roger, Mariann's father
  • Medina Iqbal: Paula
