American psychological horror film Trap starring Josh Hartnett, Ariel Donoghue, and Saleka Night Shyamalan was released in theatres across the United States on August 2, 2024. After receiving mixed reviews from the audiences and fairing averagely at the box office, the film was made available to a larger audience through its digital release on August 30, 2024.

Trap was made available for online viewing through several video-on-demand platforms on August 30, 2024, i.e. almost a month after the film's theatrical release in the United States.

The official synopsis for Trap does not reveal much but just enough to keep the audience intrigued. It reads:
"A father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event."
The father mentioned in the logline above is Cooper Abbott (portrayed by Josh Hartnett), who is a professional firefighter and a serial killer on the side (going by the alias Butcher). His daughter is Riley Abbott (portrayed by a young Ariel Donoghue), who is a hardcore Lady Raven (a famous singer) fan.
