Directed by Jon M. Chu and produced by Marc Platt under Universal Pictures, Wicked brings the beloved Broadway musical to the big screen. The film stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, with notable performances by Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard.

Upon its theatrical release, Wicked received positive reviews, holding an 88% score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 95% approval rating from audiences. It also has an 8.0/10 IMDb rating.

The film is scheduled for digital release on December 31, 2024, and will be available for rent or purchase on platforms such as Apple TV, Prime Video, and YouTube.

Audiences can look forward to exclusive bonus content, including a sing-along version, deleted scenes, and behind-the-scenes features. Director Jon M. Chu brought the world of Wicked to life using practical sets enhanced by CGI, avoiding reliance on green or blue screens.

Chu aimed to create a tangible and immersive Oz, even going so far as to plant nine million tulips to shape the vibrant landscape of Munchkinland.

The movie is an adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway musical of the same name, which was originally based on the 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire.
