“I sometimes try to get in there and do some of my own stuff” — Chris Pratt shares ankle injury photos from the set of upcoming film ‘Mercy’

Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt got injured while shooting for his latest upcoming film Mercy. On Thursday, April 18, the actor posted a picture of his injured foot on Instagram and revealed that he had caught a metal post to the ankle, which appeared bruised and swollen. This was only Pratt's fourth day on the set of the movie.

He complimented his stunt team and wrote—

"I sometimes try to get in there and do some of my own stuff."

Mercy is slated to be a sci-fi thriller and is expected to hit theaters in August 2025. The upcoming project, directed by Timur Bekmambetov of Wanted fame will also feature Dune: Part Two star Rebecca Ferguson.

Chris Pratt injured right ankle during filming of his upcoming movie

Chris Pratt's Instagram post from Thursday showed an ice pack wrapped around tightly on the ankle of his right leg. A second picture showed that the ankle was pretty swollen and bruised.

The caption read—

"Mercy filming day 4. I have such a great stunt team! AND I sometimes try to get in there and do some of my own stuff. Today, daddy caught a metal post to the ankle. Should be interesting moving forward. 🧐"

Deadline reported that the actor was recently seen around Los Angeles filming for the upcoming movie. He was even reportedly seen doing some stunts, including a scene in Malibu where Pratt, who was wearing LAPD gear, chased after another man with both of them eventually landing in the ocean.

About Mercy

Amazon MGM Studios’ Mercy is a sci-fi action thriller directed by Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter director Timur Bekmambetov and written by Marco van Belle of Arthur and Merlin fame. The film reportedly reached the hands of Amazon MGM via Oppenheimer producer Charles Roven.

The film is being produced by Roven alongside Robert Amidon, the Senior Vice President of Atlas Entertainment, Majd Nassif, and the director's BEL banner. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film, set in a future where violent crime is on an upward trajectory, features Chris Pratt as a cop from the future accused of violent crime and having to prove his innocence.

The film is also set to feature, Dr. Sleep star Rebecca Ferguson, who is fresh off the massive success of Dune: Part Two in which she reprised her role of Lady Jessica. Mercy will also star Annabelle Wallis, Chris Sullivan, Kylie Rogers, Kenneth Choi, and Rafi Gavron, among others. The movie is all set for an August 25, 2025 theatrical release.


Chris Pratt is no stranger to sci-fi thrillers having starred in 2016's Passengers, which saw Pratt play a passenger on a spaceship that accidentally awakes from induced hibernation 90 years early. He also starred in the 2021 sci-fi action thriller The Tomorrow War featuring time-travelling soldiers and deadly aliens. A sequel for the movie is already in development.

Chris Pratt, fresh off the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is all set to showcase his voice-acting chops yet again, in the upcoming film, The Garfield Movie which will see him voice the iconic Lasagna-loving feline. According to IMDb, the film is all set for a Memorial Day weekend release on May 24, 2024.
