In an interview dating back to 2021 with Shape, the young actress opened up about discovering she had anxiety and her method of dealing with the same.
She told Shape:
"I thought maybe I had anxiety, but then the pandemic hit it, and I was like, 'Oh, I have anxiety for sure.' My most calm and centered self is when I'm on set and busy. I tend to feel stress in the mundane everyday moments at home."
She added:
"Now that I'm home all the time, my anxiety is constantly being revved up. I've learned that when that fight-or-flight kicks in, it's up to me to catch those tendencies, recognize them, and respect them but then bring it back."
The actress further discussed her method of easing the anxiety, which could also inspire her fans going through something similar.
Chloë Grace Moretz reveals how she calms her anxiety down
Dealing with something like anxiety is never easy. Rather, it can often be among the most challenging things one may have to go through. Chloë Grace Moretz also had her share of difficulties with anxiety, especially after the pandemic shut everything down and forced everyone to remain at home.
However, during this time, while dealing with the difficulties of anxiety, Chloë Grace Moretz also developed her personal method to ease the problems. She discussed this in the same interview. She said:
"I've managed to cope by doing a sense check. What are two things I can smell, taste, see, and feel right now? Then I do box breathing, which is four counts in, four counts hold, and four counts release."
She continued:
"Very quickly, I come back into my reality and just ground myself. Then I'm able to focus on today: 'What am I going to eat for dinner? What should I read?' Also, I can't speak highly enough of a good therapist who will guide you and help figure out what is truest to who you are."
This method may help out anyone looking to ease up the symptoms of anxiety. Moretz's emphasis on finding a good therapist is also an important piece of advice for anyone looking to deal with anxiety.
