Released on August 23, 2024, the latest Netflix teen comedy film Incoming follows a bunch of high school freshmen who try to change their geek image by going to a senior's party. The characters go through separate mini-journeys during the fateful night of the party. In the end, all of them get their mostly positive closures.
The protagonist Benji is in love with his sister's best friend and a sophomore, Beiley. Two of his three best friends, Danah and Connor, want to spend their high school as cool kids, and not be labeled as geeks. Meanwhile, the third friend, Eddie, wants to mostly be himself but is forced into an adventure.
Danah's slightly abusive older brother Koosh throws a party at the house, which allows the geeks to be cool and mingle with the ladies. However, things don't go as planned. Eventually, Benji finds out that Beiley also likes him and the latter initiates the kiss but in secret, as she can’t be seen kissing a freshmen.
Moreover, Connor and Eddie become friends with the most popular girl in school (Katrina), Danah acknowledges his mistakes, and Mr. Stude gets fired.
Benji and Beiley get romantic in Incoming
Benji (Mason Thames) starts his high school days with the ambition to finally tell Beiley (Isabella Ferreira) about his feelings. The odds are against his favor as Beiley is pretty, popular, and a sophomore. However, he is determined to take a chance as the two had a nice conversation during the summer.
Benji goes to his friend Danah's house for an epic party, where he plans to lay his heart out. He finds Beiley and asks her for a drink, which she is obliged to accept due to a past commitment. They have a nice time, but the possible romance is interrupted by a bunch of thugs who threaten to beat up Benji for selling them fake drugs.
A full-on fight breaks out and the two manage to escape into a room where Beiley surprises Benji with a kiss, revealing that she likes him too. But she wants to keep things under wraps as a sophomore girl kissing a freshman boy is apparently unacceptable. Benji happily accepts to keep their kiss a secret.
However, their romance is short-lived as Benji stupidly snorts fake cocaine out of another girl's belly, which Beiley sees and then storms off in anger. Law enforcement officers raid the Koushani house, ending the party.
At the end of Incoming, Benji sings a song for his beloved in front of the entire school and proposes to her. She brutally refuses his proposal in front of others but gives him a wink of approval from a distance. The wink seems like a hint of an upcoming secret romance.
Connor and Eddie become friends with Katrina at the end of Incoming
Connor and Eddie take Dennis' car and arrive at the front of Danah's house, where a drunk Katrina, mistakes them for Uber and gets in the back seat. The boys are initially scared and confused about the situation, but soon they have to deal with a disgusting situation when Katrina defecates in the back seat.
The boys initially plan to leave her at the gate of the local fire station, but eventually take care of her till the morning. Katrina wakes up and screams at the sight of two unknown boys in her room, but soon remembers about the night and leaves in embarrassment.
However, towards the end of the movie Incoming, she acknowledges them in school and introduces them to others as her friends.
Danah ends up in a hospital and Mr. Stude loses his job
While Danah wants to be cool and get respect from his brother, Mr. Stude is a chemistry teacher, who has a great teaching style but is often hard to distinguish from the students for his unprofessional and teenagy behavior.
At the party, Danah spies on the guests and tricks a girl into spending time with him, as hooking up with a senior is the only way he thinks he'll earn respect. On the other hand, Mr. Stude also shows up at the party and explains chemistry in the most inappropriate ways.
However, Danah breaks his collarbone and ends up in a hospital. He acknowledges his mistake and even confronts Alyssa. In the final scene of Incoming, Mr. Stuber's chemistry lessons are discovered by the Principal, leading to his termination, while he politely accepts.
Incoming is currently streaming on Netflix.
