Much to the dismay of music fans worldwide, Quincy Jones breathed his last on November 4, 2024. The multi-talented American legend showed unparalleled ease as a record producer, songwriter, composer, arranger and producer.
As per a CBS News report published on November 4, 2024, Arnold Robinson, Jones' publicist, has said that the music icon died Sunday night at his home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles. He was surrounded by his family in his last moments.
The report also carried the following statement from his family:
“Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones' passing. And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him.”
A documentary film, called Quincy, was made in 2018. Co-written and co-directed by his daughter, Rashida Jones, the documentary celebrates the multifarious talents of Quincey Jones and the impact he has had worldwide.

Deadline reported on August 1, 2018 that Netflix had acquired the Quincy Jones documentary. With a runtime of a little over two hours, the film had a special screening at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival before being released on Netflix on September 21, 2018.
The film features interviews with Quincey Jones where he opens up about his life and work. Further, the documentary also features modern-day icons like Lady Gaga, Will Smith and Paul McCartney, who ruminate on the impact of the legend of the music industry. The film won a Grammy Award for Best Music Film in 2019.

Quincy Jones leaves behind a rich legacy
Jones’ career lasted for about 70 years. He's one of the first African Americans to rise to such prominence in the music industry.
Jones initially earned fame in the 1950s as a jazz arranger and conductor. Gradually, he started collaborating with such musicians as Lesley Gore, Frank Sinatra and Count Basie. In 1968, the recognition of his talents came in the form of an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song for "The Eyes of Love" from the film Banning. This was a historic first for the African American community.
Quincy Jones is also famous for his stellar partnership with another icon of popular culture: Michael Jackson. Jones produced three of Jackson’s most popular albums: Off the Wall (1979), Thriller (1982), and Bad (1987).
Apart from his musical talents, his humanitarian side is also worth mentioning. Jones produced and conducted the charity song "We Are the World" In 1985. The song went on to raise substantial funds for victims of famine in Ethiopia.
