Category 6 hurricane is the kind of tropical storm that exceeds the speed of 192 mph. Civil engineer Herbert Saffir and meteorologist Robert Simpson developed the "Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale" back in 1971, to measure the speed and potential destruction a hurricane can cause. Originally 5 Categories were set to measure the intensity, with wind speeds rising over 157 mph.
However, due to massive climate change in recent years, experts have predicted the possibility of a Category 6 hurricane. Hurricane Milton, a Category 5 hurricane, is currently rushing toward Florida's coast at a speed exceeding 160 mph.
The Milton hurricane is expected to reach Florida's Gulf Coast by October 9, 2024. There has been speculation that with this intensity Hurricane Milton will soon become a Category 6 hurricane.
In 2004, CBS released a two-part miniseries named Category 6: Day of Destruction. Directed by the American filmmaker Dick Lowry, the series documented a fictional event that depicted three massive storms, combining into a massive Category 6 hurricane, about to reach Chicago. The first part was aired on CBS on November 14, 2004, and the second part was aired three days later.

CBS miniseries predicted the possibility of a Category 6 hurricane
Written by Matt Dorff, Category 6: Day of Destruction visualized an unprecedented event where three tropical storms, arriving from north, east, and south, combined into a massive Category 6 hurricane that rushed toward Chicago's coast. Andy Goodman, a retired chief meteorologist, with his friend Tornado Tommy, first detects the unusual activities in the Arctic Ocean.
Mitch Benson, an electrical operation chief, notices a strain on Chicago's power grid due to severe heat waves. A fellow engineer, Dan London, informs the team about the possible dangers, however, their pleas are repeatedly ignored by the corrupt officials.
Meanwhile, reporter Amy Harkin investigates the company's failures but in the process, finds out about the major threat about to hit Chicago. With a massive power communications failure and a Category 6 hurricane, these people try their best to save the city from a historical threat.
Category 6: Day of Destruction received CBS's highest rating in two years and garnered 19.4 million views within its very first week. It also received critical appreciation for its use of high-end special effects. In November 2005, it was revived for another installment, titled Category 7: The End of the World.
