Fans of There’s Something About Mary received a news about a potential sequel to their beloved 90's comedy film. On November 25, 2024, a Facebook post by YODA BBY ABY announced that its sequel titled There’s Still Something About Mary would be released in March 2025. The post claimed that Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz would reprise their roles as Ted and Mary respectively in this sequel set 25 years later.

As per the synopsis mentioned in the post, Ted and Mary's 25-year marriage hits a rough patch, with the two living separately since the last six months. Ted signs up for a personality-matching app, which sets people up on blind dates. To his surprise, he finds himself matched with Mary and the two rekindle their love with lots of humor along the way.

It must be noted that the post belongs to a parody account that describes itself as '100% satire and fake.' Hence, it should not be taken seriously and enjoyed as entertainment only. Therefore, it is confirmed that There’s Something About Mary is not returning with a sequel film.

The film's co-director Peter Farrelly told Comic Book in March 2024 that the studio had planned for a sequel after its box office success. Tentatively titled, There's Something Else About Mary, the story would have delved into Mary's past and revealed a shocking and risqué secret about the lead character. However, the studio heads decided against the idea.

Peter also shared in the same interview that he felt the film's story had ended conclusively and did not justify a sequel, like his other film, Dumb and Dumber:

"You know, Dumb & Dumber was the one, like you could do ten Dumb and Dumbers, honestly, and I really enjoyed Dumb & Dumber 2 -- the one that we did. And I love those two guys, so...bring it back. (There's) Something About Mary, when it came out they did talk about a sequel -- the studio -- and honestly we were like, 'It ended, that's the thing.'"
