Since its theatrical release in the United States on December 20, 2024, the period drama film, The Brutalist has become a hot topic of discussion. Despite the film not doing well at the box office, it has garnered significant acclaim from the critics and the select few audience members who flocked to the theatres to watch it.

What's more, the film has also become an awards season favorite, bagging multiple nominations across ceremonies. As of writing this article, The Brutalist has approximately 30 award show nominations under its name, including the Golden Globes Awards, Critics' Choice Movie Awards, and Independent Spirit Awards.

Naturally, audiences are curious whether the movie is available for streaming. A24 has not yet made The Brutalist available for online viewing. Therefore, the only way for people to enjoy the film is by watching it in their nearest theatres.

The Brutalist is currently only playing in theatres

As mentioned before, A24 has not yet provided a way for audiences to watch The Brutalist from the comfort of their homes. Right now, the film is only available in theatres and isn't offered on any digital platforms. Additionally, it hasn't been released on DVD, which further limits options for viewers who want to see it.

However, based on a deal A24 signed with Warner Bros. Discovery in 2023, A24 films are supposed to be made available on Max's streaming service before they show up on any other platform. Because of this, many viewers are hopeful that the film will eventually make its way to HBO Max within the three to six-month window period.

This expectation among audiences arises as a result of the release patterns of previous A24 films like Civil War (approximately 5 months), Priscilla (approximately 4 months), and MaXXXine (approximately 3 months).

The Brutalist starred Adrien Brody in the role of László Tóth, an architect of Hungarian-Jewish descent. Tóth was a Holocaust survivor who had to leave Germany for America, parting ways with his wife, Erzsébet Tóth (Felicity Jones), and his niece, Zsófia (Raffey Cassidy).

After being forced into a life he didn’t choose, Tóth took control of his path and focused on his work in architecture. His life took a positive turn when he was reunited with his family.

However, this joy was short-lived as Tóth soon became embroiled in a complicated situation involving a wealthy client with mysterious ties, which ultimately changed the direction of his life forever.

The official synopsis for the film by A24 highlights the aforementioned aspects of the film and more. It reads:

"Escaping post-war Europe, visionary architect László Toth arrives in America to rebuild his life, his work, and his marriage to his wife Erzsébet after being forced apart during wartime by shifting borders and regimes."

It continues:

"On his own in a strange new country, László settles in Pennsylvania, where the wealthy and prominent industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren recognizes his talent for building. But power and legacy come at a heavy cost..."

Besides Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, and Raffey Cassidy, The Brutalist's cast comprised several other talented actors. This included Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Stacy Martin, Isaach de Bankolé, Emma Laird, and Alessandro Nivola. They portrayed the roles of Harrison Lee Van Buren, Harry Lee Van Buren, Maggie Van Buren, Gordon, Audrey, and Attila, respectively.
