Peter Brown is a celebrated children's book author and illustrator who is best known for writing The Wild Robot trilogy. The first illustrated novel in the series, The Wild Robot, was published in April 2016 and became a New York Times Bestseller. It inspired the 2024 film of the same name by Chris Sanders.

Moreover, Brown followed up the book with two more sequels - The Wild Robot Escapes and The Wild Robot Protects. The second book, released in 2017, focuses on Roz's time in the civilized world surrounded by humans and other robots. It details her endeavor to return back to Brightbill and her island home.

The third book in the series, The Wild Robot Protects was published in 2023. In the third installment, the empathetic Roz goes to great lengths to protect her island home after a poison tide threatens its existence. On her journey, she encounters a host of sea creatures and learns about the harmful effects of mining practices by humans on the natural world.

The robot Roz finds herself stranded on a remote island. She struggles to survive in the island's harsh environment at first, but learns to adapt to her surroundings by befriending the local animals. Roz also begins taking care of an orphaned gosling named Brightbill (Kit Connor).

However her creators, Universal Dynamics, try to retrieve her from the island by sending a horde of robots led by Vontra (Stephanie Hsu). The robot army fights against the local animals and starts a wildfire that destroys the island's natural habitat.

In an act of maternal love, Roz sacrifices herself and returns back to Universal Dynamics to save her island home with the promise that she will return back to Brightbill and her chosen family.
