Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s blended family explored as actress celebrates husband on ‘Father’s Day’ amid speculated marriage strain

Jennifer Lopez wished Ben Affleck for Father's Day took to her Instagram stories on Sunday, June 16 to wish the Gone Girl actor a "Happy Father’s Day". She also called Affleck their hero. The singer and actress also wished her own father a Happy Father's Day.

Ben Affleck has three children: Violet (18), Fin (15, formerly Seraphina), and Samuel (12), with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner. Jennifer Lopez has two 16-year-old twins, Maximilian "Max" David Muniz and Emme Maribel Muniz with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck share a blended family with five children

Amidst a plethora of reports speculating a separation between Ben Affleck and his wife Jennifer Lopez, the latter showed her support for Affleck by wishing the actor a Happy Father's Day. On Sunday, the actress posted a black and white picture of Affleck sporting a leather jacket and wrote "Our hero", alongside a white heart emoji.

Although the couple does not share any biological children, they are the step-parents of each other's kids from previous relationships.

Lopez was married to her-ex husband for around a decade, from 2004 to 2014. The former couple welcomed their kids in February 2008. In a February 2024 interview with People magazine, the singer gushed that she had "unconditional love" for her kids. She told the publication:

"I know everybody feels this way about their kids, but I just feel like they’re super special. I can’t wait to see what they do."

Ben Affleck has three children with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, whom he was married to from 2005 to 2018. Their eldest daughter, Violet Anne Affleck, is 18 and recently graduated from high school. Their second child, Fin Affleck, is 15 and originally named Seraphina, announced their new name during Jennifer Garner's father's funeral in April.

Ben Affleck's youngest child is a 12-year-old son named Samuel Affleck. According to Business Insider, Samuel is often seen alongside his father during sports games. As per E! News, Jennifer Lopez was in attendance at Samuel's graduation party at Ben Affleck's rental home.

Jennifer Lopez has previously spoken about sharing a blended family. Back in a 2022 interview with Vogue before exchanging vows with Ben Affleck, Lopez shared that she was handling the transition situation with extreme care. She told the publication:

"What I hope to cultivate with our family is that his kids have a new ally in me and my kids have a new ally in him."

While speaking about their 2022 Christmas celebrations in her newsletter, Jennifer Lopez wrote in December of the year:

"We have blended families, doubled the people, doubled the fun, doubled the love, doubled the presents and tripled the chaos!!"

In a 2023 appearance on Today, Jennifer Lopez shared that Ben Affleck was a "wonderful, wonderful father" and a great father figure for her kids. She shared:

"He's fantastic. He really steps up to the challenge of what that is and what that means … And they love him. They love him. And they appreciate him, and so do I,"

Recently, a source told People magazine that amidst the chaos and speculation surrounding their marriage, the couple wanted to "put the kids first". The source explained that Lopez's attendance at Violet Affleck's graduation in May was a "big deal" for the singer. The source also added that the current situation was "heartbreaking" for Lopez.
