John Woo's The Killer (2024): Full list of cast

Peacock is all set to add a new action thriller to its library titled The Killer, which is slated to release on the streamer on August 23, 2024. The movie is loosely based on Woo’s 1989 film The Killer, which starred Chow Yun-fat, Danny Lee, and Sally Yeh, among others.

Directed by Chinese director John Woo, the film stars big names including Nathalie Emmanuel as Zee and Omar Sy as Sey in lead roles. Charles Roven, Alex Gartner, Lori Tilkin DeFelice, and John Woo himself are the producers of this remake.

A Better Tomorrow Films, Atlas Entertainment, and Universal Pictures will all be involved in its production. Josh Campbell, Matt Stuecken, and Brian Helgeland wrote the screenplay for The Killer (2024). According to IMDb, the official logline for the movie is as follows:

"An assassin tries to make amends in an effort to restore the sight of a beautiful young singer."

1) Nathalie Emmanuel as Zee

Nathalie Emmanuel is a British actress who is popular for her role as Missandei, the sidekick of Daenerys Targaryen in HBO’s Game of Thrones (2011-2019). The 35-year-old star has also featured in movies and shows including The Invitation (2022), Army of Thieves (2021), Furious 7 (2015), and more.

In The Killer, she plays Zee, a Parisian criminal underworld assassin known as "The Queen of the Dead," as the movie's teaser revealed. Zee is a female James Bond-type character who is ideal for an assassin on the run because of her combat abilities in the movie and her proficiency with all weapons.

Former pro footballer turned actor Eric Cantona has previously been a part of movies like The Salvation (2014), Elizabeth (1998), Looking for Eric (2009), and more.

He portrays Jules Gobert, a drug lord in the movie who resembles Pablo Escobar from Narcos. Eric is the perfect pick for a bad guy of the moment because of his audacious demeanor and his powerful, athletic figure.

Actress Aurelia Agel has been part of movies including Black Widow (2021), Fast X (2023), John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023), and more. In her upcoming film The Killer, Aurelia Angel stars as Juliet who is a baddie in the film, paid to assassinate people. More information about her character is not available at the moment.

In the film, he is a part of the investigation that Zee has herself involved in after she refuses to complete her killing assignment.

Plot Summary

In the movie The Killer, the film's plot centers on Zee, also known as Queen of the Dead, who is tasked with killing a singer who has lost his vision. But she declines to carry out the murder. This choice distresses her, and chaos erupts around her as her former supporters turn against her. Zee appears to be on the run in the teaser, but she never backs down from a battle and always gives it her all.
