The film is directed by RJ Cutler, who has worked on other notable documentaries like Elton John: Never Too Late and Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry. In an interview for Netflix's Tudum, the director spoke about how Stewart had become an icon over the years and the need to bring her success story to audiences:

“I started reading about Martha, and the more I did, the more it became clear to me that she was a complex person filled with so many conflicts and contradictions. And the more I learned about her, the more excited I became about the possibility of digging deeper into her story.”

The film is set to explore Stewart’s life and experiences up close with archives, pictures, diaries and personal interviews. It's a must-watch for audiences interested in how Stewart built a self-made career, using her insights about cooking and managing a home.

Stewart's story is also an empowering tale of a woman who carved a name for herself in a man's world. Director RJ Cutler said in the Tudum interview for the film that audiences must know how Stewart overcame challenges to revolutionise beauty, fashion, style and taste into one brand. He said:

"She always had to overcome enormous obstacles that were in her way. Most of the people who put those obstacles in her way were men who refused to see what she was able to see and who made it harder for others to see because she was a woman. And she overcame those obstacles with extraordinary success.”

Audiences can expect to see how Stewart, a member of a working class family, rose to heights as the embodiment of the American success story. Since the film also features interviews with Stewart herself, audiences will also get to see her insightful business mind and strategies she used to build her own empire.

Through interviews with Stewart and her close inner circle, Cutler will look to paint a portrait behind the businesswoman to showcase her story. Stewart's journey from a model to a stockbroker, company founder, a prison inmate and back to reigning over her company is certainly an interesting one.
