Michael B. Jordan will direct a remake of the romantic heist film The Thomas Crown Affair, according to recent reports.
According to Deadline, Michael B. Jordan has signed a deal with Amazon MGM Studios to direct and star in a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. Originally reported in 2016, the recent news confirms Jordan will both lead and direct the project.
Michael B. Jordan's directorial debut, Creed III was a massive success since it became the highest-grossing Creed film after its release. The actor has been involved in various projects since, with the upcoming remake of The Thomas Crown Affair adding to the list.
Michael B. Jordan's version will be the third iteration of The Thomas Crown Affair
The upcoming reimagination of The Thomas Crown Affair by the actor and director is the third reiteration of the famous romantic heist film. The original version was released in 1968 and featured Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. McQueen played the titular role while Faye Dunaway dazzled in the role of an investigator known as Vicki Anderson. The fast-paced thriller coupled with a sizzling on-screen romance led to the roaring success of the film, resulting in two Academy Awards nominations.
The first remake of the 1968 classic was done in 1999 and featured Pierce Brosnan in the titular role. The remake reimagined certain parts of the plot while keeping the attributes of the leading character similar to the original one. Faye Dunaway's character was replaced by Catherine Banning (portrayed by Rene Russo). However, Dunaway featured in a minor role in the remake, as an ode to the original film. The 1999 remake was a major hit like its predecessor.
The plot of Jordan's version of The Thomas Crown Affair has been kept under wraps. The co-star for Jordan is yet to be confirmed.
