Michael Jackson's Biopic, titled Michael, which was scheduled to be released on April 18, 2025, has been postponed to October 3, 2025. Antoine Fuqua, who is known for his works including Southpaw, The Magnificient Seven, Olympus Has Fallen and The Equalizer series is set to direct the film.
Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of the late pop legend is set to play his uncle in the biopic. The script is written by John Logan and will follow Michael Jackson from his childhood days to his rise to fame, and becoming a music legend. John McClain, John Branca, and Graham King will serve as producers of the movie.
A Deadline article, published on July 26, 2024, covered director Fuqua talking about his progress on Michael at the San Diego Comic-Con. He said that the team wrapped the shooting on May 30, and the movie is in the early stages of editing. Lionsgate will be covering the movie's premiere collaborating with Universal Pictures for its worldwide release.

The biopic Michael will chronicle an honest portrayal of the King of Pop, exploring both his public and private life. The story will follow Michael Jackson's life, starting from his very childhood, to his rise to popularity during the 1970s and 1980s, till the last weeks before his death.
As per a Billboard article, published on November 6, 2024, Michael Jackson is the only solo artist with 13 Billboard Hot 100 Number 1 singles. His sixth studio album Thriller released on November 29, 1982, topped Number 1 on Billboard 200 for 37 weeks continuously, from 1983 to 1984.
While having a conversation at the Hall H panel at Comic-Con, director Antoine Fuqua opened up about his motivation behind creating Michael. Fuqua said,
“Michael was a big part of my life growing up, big influence on my career, an incredible artist, but he was a human being, and we’re exploring that,” he further added, “I’m very excited about it.”
As per the synopsis, the movie will bring authentic documentation of the life and times of the King of Pop.

On January 30, 2023, Jaafar Jackson posted on X about his progress in the biopic and expressed his emotions about being able to portray his late uncle, Michael Jackson.
Michael Jackson's brothers Jackie, Marlon, Tito, and Taryll, while having a press conference at Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich, Germany on September 9, 2024, conveyed their excitement for the biopic Michael. Marlon praised his nephew for playing the role of his late brother.
