The offbeat dramedy from Niclas Larsson, Mother, Couch, is all set for its upcoming premiere on July 5, 2024, bringing forth an absurd story filled with emotions. The movie has already premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, 2023, to mixed reception, with many praising the concept but not impressed with the end product.
Mother, Couch follows a mother who sits on a couch in a furniture store and refuses to leave, kickstarting a chain of events that brings together her three children. The movie also reportedly attempts to take viewers on a cathartic journey that redefines the meaning of family through absurdity.

1) Ewan McGregor as David
The famous Ewan McGregor, who boasts an extensive resume in Hollywood and is currently also building a huge repertoire on TV (thanks to Obi-Wan Kenobi), takes on the role of David, one of the three children who reunite to help remove their mother from the store.
Ewan McGregor is perhaps best known for his portrayal of the drug addict Mark Renton in Trainspotting (1996). He went on to star in many critically and commercially successful movies, which also earned him a Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award, among many other accolades.
2) Rhys Ifans as Gruffudd
Another exciting actor on the list, Rhys Ifans is set to portray the character of Gruffudd, another of the three children of the mother leading the plot. Rhys Ifans is currently appearing in the latest season of House of the Dragon, where he portrays the villainous Otto Hightower, one of the primary reasons behind the impending war.
He has also been a part of many other successful franchises, including the Harry Potter series, where he played the role of Xenophilius Lovegood, and The Amazing Spider-Man, where he played the role of Dr. Curt Connors / Lizard.
Lara Flynn Boyle as Linda
Rounding the list of siblings off is Lara Flynn Boyle as Linda, the only daughter in this story. Lara Flynn Boyle is best known for her portrayal of Donna Hayward in the television series Twin Peaks, which was also her breakout role.
She has appeared in many other shows and movies since, some of which include Red Rock West (1993), Threesome (1994), and Cafe Society (1995). She has also received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for her role in ABC's The Practice.
Ellen Burstyn as Mother
Ellen Burstyn takes on the role of the mother, who kickstarts the entire movie. The veteran actor and the protagonist of Mother, Couch, Ellen Burstyn has an expansive body of work that has won her numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, a Tony Award, and two Primetime Emmy Awards. Notably, she is one of the very rare actors to win the revered Triple Crown of Acting.
