7 movies to watch if you liked Uncharted

Uncharted is a 2022 movie based on a game adaptation, directed by Ruben Fleischer. It stars action heroes Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in lead roles. The story is about two adventurers solving ancient puzzles and warding off a villain searching for lost treasure.

Uncharted scratched an itch among audiences for treasure hunts and high-stake chases. Hence, there is now a renewed appetite for similar movies in the past, such as National Treasure, The Mummy, and the Indiana Jones series.

According to The Numbers website, the movie made $407 million worldwide and is sixth on the list of the highest-grossing video games of all time. The movie received five nominations, including The Family Film Awards and The Game Awards.

While there are no solid plans for a sequel underway, there are some movies fans can watch to relieve the anticipation of Nate and Sully's escapades. Following is a list of movies that carry the same spirit as Uncharted.

1) The Mummy (1999) - Netflix, Prime Video

This is a fan favorite for anybody following Brendan Fraser. The Mummy is known for Fraser's humorous dialogue and the horror it created when it was first released. For viewers who liked the chemistry between Nate and Sully from Uncharted, The Mummy is a good laugh for similar banter and action. It was nominated for multiple Academy Awards and has five wins overall, making it one of the most memorable movies of 1999.

The story is about a group of archeologists who discover the grave of a Mummy and unknowingly release the spirit of an evil Pharaoh sealed eons ago.

National Treasure is a delight for fans of American history. Like Uncharted, this story follows themes of code-breaking and map finding as fans are treated to a chase to find the Declaration of Independence. With a successful sequel, the franchise has made a whopping $788 million worldwide, according to The Numbers.

The story follows Benjamin Gates, played by Nicholas Cage, who has followed clues since childhood to find a treasure hidden during the conception of America. Despite being released in 2004, National Treasure has proved to be worthy of a rewatch once in a while.


3) Indiana Jones: The Dial of Destiny (2023) - Disney+, Apple TV, Prime Video

Harrison Ford plays a legendary archeologist, Dr. Indiana Jones, approaching retirement in 1969. His goddaughter asks him to join her in a blaze of glory adventure to find the mythical Archimedes dial that can change history. Jones and Helena must scout the world to find the dial before it gets into the hands of an evil scientist.

The Indiana Jones series is one of the most popular in this genre, amassing over $2 Billion worldwide since its first release in 1981. This is the latest installment and has a story full of uncharted thrills and the prospect of finding a treasure.

Tomb Raider is based on a popular British action game. The movie received acclaim through its eight nominations, including the Teen Choice Awards and the National Film Awards UK. In this story, an ordinary bike courier from London is thrust into a perilous adventure as she gathers clues to her missing father's whereabouts.

The clues he left behind will lead Lara Croft to a decrepit island in Japan, where hell awaits. After Uncharted, the audience is in for exhilarating raw stunts with combat inspired by the game.


5) Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) - Prime Video, Apple TV

The Pirates of the Caribbean series is a blockbuster success, with 82 award wins across 171 nominations. It has a star-studded cast, including Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley, and Orlando Bloom, and a musical score by Hans Zimmer.

The fifth and final installment is about Jack Sparrow, now on the run and searching for a mythical trident. He must cross treacherous seas and fight an army of dead waiting for him. An old enemy, Salazar, resurfaces as his ghost ship and men take over the sea. While Uncharted functions on a moral compass, this series sails into the murky ocean of ethics in betrayal and thievery, steered by Jack Sparrow.


6) Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010) - Prime Video, Apple TV

The Sands of Time is an adaptation of an action game rooted in a 1989 DOS game. The audience's love for the movie culminated in the movie receiving The People's Choice Awards USA in 2010. The story is based on a prince, framed for the murder of his father by his uncle in a scheme to obtain a dagger of time. In his journey to bring justice to his kingdom, he falls in love and changes for the better.

The movie, just like the game, has robust action sequences, complex stunts, and a life-changing quest.


7) Now You See Me (2013) - Netflix, Apple TV

Another winner of The People's Choice Award in 2014, Now You See Me is not an action-adventure per se. However, it does play with the audience's understanding of the story, which is just as exciting. The Four Horsemen are a group of magicians led by Atlas, played by Jesse Eisenberg.

Uncharted and Mark Ruffalo fans will love this movie for its scheming and overarching righteousness.


It has been more than two years since the launch of Uncharted, yet it stands as a memorable action movie. This list will get fans similarly excited as watching Nate and Sully's escapades through bustling cities in search of treasure.
