3) The Notebook
This 2004 film is a romantic drama starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams based on a novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks. It follows the story of two lovebirds, Noah and Allie, and their summer romance. Netflix's Lonely Planet was also heavily focused on a summer romance plot.
The Notebook is framed as a story an elderly man named Duke narrates to an Alzheimer's patient at a nursing home. It is eventually revealed that the patient is none other than Allie, and Duke is Noah, who uses a pseudonym so he doesn't startle her. Noah does his best to comfort Allie while reminding her of their shared times.
4) The Tourist
A little different from other movies in the list, The Tourist is a 2010 remake of the 2005 French thriller Anthony Zimmer. The film stars Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie and focuses on the hunt for a master thief, known only as Alexander Pearce - wanted by rival gangs and Scotland Yard.
In Venice, Italy, Elise receives a note from Alexander asking her to find a man resembling his height and build on a train. Thanks to his machinations, Elise befriends a tourist and teacher known as Frank Tupelo and drags him into a cat-and-mouse game that puts both of their lives on the line.
