Netflix's Quicksilver: Everything we know so far

In a competitive bidding process, Netflix has reportedly secured the film rights to Quicksilver in a deal worth 7 figures, according to Deadline's December 3 exclusive. The movie will be produced by Elizabeth Cantillon through her company, The Cantillon Company, with the author of the book, Callie Hart, acting as an executive producer.

Additionally, the publishing rights for Hart's Quicksilver trilogy were secured by Leah Hultenschmidt at Forever (Grand Central Publishing) in a 10-bidder auction from WME. The UK rights were acquired by Molly Powell at Hodderscape.

While casting details and a release timeline are yet to be announced, the film is expected to tap into the growing demand for fantasy romance, drawing comparisons to franchises like Twilight and The Hunger Games. On December 3, the author of the book, Callie Hart also took to Instagram and shared:

"I am so bad at keeping secrets. But this one was so worth the wait… Quicksilver is getting a MOVIE, guys! Netflix will be turning Fisher and Saeris’s story into the most incredible feature length visual masterpiece, and I am officially freaking out.”

Callie Hart's Quicksilver, the first book in the Fae & Alchemy series, has won over fantasy romance enthusiasts around the globe. Released in June 2024, the novel swiftly rose to the top of the charts, becoming Amazon's number-one bestseller. Its blend of magic, mythology, and thrilling romance has received widespread appreciation.

Hart is also known for her Blood & Roses and Dirty Nasty Freaks series. On TikTok, mentions of Quicksilver reached over three million views within its first two months. With translation rights sold in 24 languages and a deluxe hardcover edition planned for Summer 2025.

Now the upcoming movie adaptation remains in the hands of Cantillon who has worked on critically acclaimed projects including Netflix’s Persuasion with Dakota Johnson and the creation of The Nightingale with Hello Sunshine. Cantillon and Lucky Chap are also finishing up a podcast series called Madam Ram, featuring Toni Collette, for QCODE Media.

Fans of the novel are eager to see the story come to life, as Netflix prepares to bring Saeris Fane’s magical journey to a global audience.


Plot of Quicksilver

The book follows the story of Saeris Fane, a 24-year-old human rebel with mysterious powers. She has spent her life stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs. Her life changes dramatically when she accidentally opens a portal between worlds, leading her to confront Death itself.

Taken to the icy mountains of Yvelia, Saeris learns that the Fae, once thought to be just mythical, are actually real. In this new land, Saeris joins forces with Kingfisher, a mysterious Fae warrior with a troubled past and secret plans. Together, they face a long-standing conflict, with Saeris's magical skills as an Alchemist playing a key role in their fight for survival.

As hidden truths come to light and tensions grow, Saeris and Kingfisher must deal with their intertwined destinies in a risky adventure filled with danger, betrayal, and forbidden desire.


When will Quicksilver book 2 launch?

Those eagerly waiting for the next book in the Fae & Alchemy series will have to wait. Originally planned for release in October 2024, the second book has been postponed to Fall 2025. Author Callie Hart has teased the book's intense storyline, calling it “total f---ing mayhem” during an August 2024 podcast interview on A Pod of Smut and Wingspan.

According to Hart, the upcoming sequel will amplify the dynamics between characters and take readers on a rollercoaster of twists and turns. Although no official release date has been announced, the delay is speculated to be linked to the Netflix adaptation and book acquisition.
