The Open House, a Netflix horror film, was released on January 19, 2018. The movie's star-studded cast includes Dylan Minnette, Piercey Dalton, Sharif Atkins, Patricia Bethune, and Aaron Abrams.
The 90-minute story centers around a mother and son duo who move into a vacant home after their father/husband tragically dies in a car accident. The mother, Naomi, is unemployed and cannot financially support them. She takes up her sister's offer to live in this sprawling chalet that is up for sale until she can find work and a more permanent housing situation.
However, every Sunday, there is an open house for the chalet. Naomi and her son, Logan, must be out of the house that day. Unfortunately, strange things happen when Naomi and Logan move into the house. Objects are moved, strange noises can be heard, and eerie townspeople showcase unusual behavior.

1) Dylan Minnette
Dylan Minnette plays the role of Logan Wallace in The Open House. His character is still grieving the loss of his father when they move into their new temporary home.
At first, when unexplained and spooky occurrences occur in the house, Naomi blames Logan, thinking he is messing with her. His son denies having anything to do with it. The mother-son's relationship is sorely tested in the haunted mansion.
27-year-old Minnette is known for playing Clay Jensen in the popular Netflix drama series 13 Reasons Why. He has also guest-starred and played recurring roles in Goosebumps, Supernatural, Lost, Awake, Grey's Anatomy, Prison Break, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Besides acting, Minnette is also a singer, guitarist, and bassist for a band called Wallows.
2) Piercey Dalton
Candian-American actress Piercey Dalton plays Naomi Wallace in The Open House. Besides grieving the loss of her husband, her character is also coping with the need to financially provide for her family and find gainful employment. Despite being scared of living in the chalet, Naomi and her son have no option but to continue to live there because they are unable to afford a hotel.
Dalton's most popular roles include playing the role of Hannah Maynard in Be Still. She has also appeared in the short film Duke and the movie The Orchard.

3) Sharif Atkins
In The Open House, Sharif Atkins plays Chris, a chatty store clerk who meets the mother-son duo when they visit his store. In the official trailer, viewers can see him lurking around the house when the occupants are away.
Atkins is best known for playing the role of FBI Agent Clinton Jones in the series White Collar and Dr. Michael Gallant in ER. The 49-year-old actor has also starred in Guardians of the Galaxy, Criminal Minds, CSI: Miami, The Good Wife, House, and Sleepy Hollow.
4) Patricia Bethune
Patricia Bethune plays Martha, a creepy neighbor who also lost her husband, like Naomi. She seems to lurk around their property. However, it is later revealed in the film that her strange behavior can be attributed to Alzheimer's.
Bethune has acted in several shows, including General Hospital, Seinfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond, Malcolm in the Middle, Desperate Housewives, Mad Men, and How to Get Away with Murder. She has won a Daytime Emmy Award for playing an evil nurse in General Hospital.
5) Aaron Abrams
Aaron Abrams plays Brian Wallace, Naomi's husband and Logan's father. He has appeared in several shows, including Blindspot, Masters of S*x, Children Ruin Everything, Longmire, NCIS, Grey's Anatomy, and Quantum Leap.

Netflix released the synopsis of the movie, which reads:
"A teenage boy and his mother move to a small town in the hope of starting over after a family tragedy. This unnerving horror film follows them as they grow suspicious of their new home's spooky nature and the townspeople's unusual behavior."
Popular reviewing platforms Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 7% rating, and IMDb rated it a 3.3 out of 10. Based on the reviews on these platforms, the film did not go down well with viewers.
The Open House is now available to stream on Netflix.
