"A good man and a man of character" ̶ Liam Neeson, Sharon Stone, and others express support for Kevin Spacey's Hollywood comeback

On May 15, several Hollywood actors spoke to The Telegraph in support of Kevin Spacey, who has been missing in action ever since allegations of s*xual misconduct arose against him.

Liam Neeson told the publication that he was “deeply saddened to learn of these accusations,” and added:

“Kevin is a good man and a man of character… Personally speaking, our industry needs him and misses him greatly.”

Neeson was joined by the likes of Sharon Stone, Stephen Fry, and F. Murray Abraham who also showed solidarity for Kevin Spacey and called for his return to Hollywood.

The actors’ statements come in the wake of the documentary Spacey Unmasked, which was recently released in the U.K. and shed light on the allegations against him.

Sharon Stone can’t wait to see Kevin Spacey “back at work”

During a recent interview with The Telegraph, actors came in support of Kevin Spacey and demanded that he be allowed to return to Hollywood, after a hiatus of seven years, following misconduct claims against him.

Sharon Stone told the media outlet that aspiring actors “wanted and want to be around” Spacey, adding:

“I can’t wait to see Kevin back at work. He is a genius. He is so elegant and fun, generous to a fault, and knows more about our craft than most of us ever will.”

The Lovelace actress also mentioned how “terrible” it was that his accusers are “blaming him for not being able to come to terms with themselves for using him and negotiating with themselves because they didn’t get their secret agendas.”

Likewise, Liam Neeson tagged the House of Cards star as a “good man,” lauded his “character” and sought his return to acting. He further continued by saying:

“He’s sensitive, articulate, and non-judgemental, with a terrific sense of humor. He is also one of our finest artists in the theatre and on camera.”

F. Murray Abraham, who has himself been accused of s*xual misconduct on the sets of his Apple TV+ series Mythic Quest and was later fired from the show, vouched “unequivocally” for Kevin Spacey and stated in a letter of support:

“He is a fine man, I stand with him, and let he who is without sin cast the first stone.”

He also slammed the “vultures” for attacking the two-time Oscar winner and pointed out that, unlike others, Kevin Spacey has “publicly accepted his responsibility for certain behavior.”

Similarly, Stephen Fry criticized the Channel 4 documentary Spacey Unmasked and said that portraying Spacey in the same light as a convicted s*x offender and former film producer Harvey Weinstein was unethical.

While he acknowledged that Spacey has often been “clumsy and inappropriate,” he said that continuing “to harass and hound him, to devote a whole documentary to accusations that simply do not add up to crimes… How can that be considered proportionate and justified?”

The Bones star called Kevin Spacey’s reputation “wrecked” and added:

"Surely it is wrong to continue to batter a reputation on the strength of assertion and rhetoric rather than evidence and proof? Unless I'm missing something, I think he has paid the price."

Sir Trevor Nunn also sent a letter to The Telegraph in solidarity with the Beyond the Sea creator.

The two-part documentary was aired on May 6 and 7 and revolved around the rise and fall of Kevin Spacey, in the wake of abuse and harassment allegations since 2017’s #MeToo movement. Ten of his alleged victims appeared on Spacey Unmasked and reiterated their earlier claims.

Notably, Spacey himself called out the documentary during a recent interview with journalist Dan Wootton and regretted being cast out of Hollywood, calling it a “life sentence.”

"I take full responsibility for my past behavior and my actions. But I cannot and will not take responsibility or apologize to anyone who's made up stuff about me or exaggerated stories about me," he told Wootton.

Over the years, the Elvis & Nixon star has faced many lawsuits and other legal cases, but so far hasn’t been convicted, leading to them being dropped. He has also denied all the accusations.
