Anne Hathaway says she believes in signs and recalls receiving one from her grandmother who died when she was eight

Anne Hathaway spoke about her beliefs in astrology and about receiving signs from dead family members, saying she got one from her grandmother a long way back.

Hathaway joined Maisy Stella, who will star alongside her in an upcoming film for Interview Magazine, on Friday, September 5. During their conversation, Hathaway asks Stella if she believes in signs, to which the actress says yes, she does "more than anyone has ever believed in signs."

Hathaway said that she's the same, recalling the time when her grandmother, who died, gave her one:

"[I believe in signs] big time. My grandmother passed when I was eight, and she sent me a sign. I hadn't thought about it in a really long time until I was telling someone about it, and then a few hours later I got my first one from her in ages."

While The Idea of You actress didn't specify the sign she received from her late grandmother, she told Stella that she would send it to her "over text," adding, "I'll send you a picture of it, actually."

Elsewhere in the interview, Anne Hathaway and Maisy Stella's conversation ventures into psychics and astrology. The Princess Diaries actress shared that she has a friend who helps her keep up with her star signs and understand what they mean. She said:

"I feel like I have a little bit of a cheat because I have an amazing friend who's an astrologist, so I can ask her what dreams and animal signs mean."

Anne Hathaway also asked her co-star if she had ever spoken to a psychic or followed a psychic's advice. Stella shared that she had both "good and bad experiences with psychics," recalling driving by herself and passing a psychic's house in Nashville a month ago.

It was a bizarre experience as Stella recalled the psychic doing a "full tarot reading" and telling her that the following year would be "really crazy." She also didn't specify what the psychic said but told Anne Hathaway that she would text her about all of it.

As for Anne Hathaway, it's not the first time she shared an encounter with a psychic. In December 2023, the Devil Wears Prada actress recounted an interesting psychic story on an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show.

She told Barrymore that she was walking around a flea market in LA contemplating a job she got but couldn't do because she had to do another job. However, a young girl claiming to be a psychic went to her and said that she was "just blocked from something and it's gonna be okay."

The girl supposedly also told the Mothers' Instinct star that she was not on the path she should be on and that she was "supposed to be like Drew Barrymore." As bizarre as the event was, Anne Hathaway said that she took it as a sign that everything would be alright.
