Others shared similar sentiments online:

Other netizens swarmed the internet with their opinions on Takei's remarks.
"Hey George, if Trump showed up at a Trek convention, would he claim to be the new Galactic Emperor or just try to sell us space steaks?" One user said.
"So. In your opinion. You’re saying that your fans are weird. Well done! 🤦🏼♂️" one tweet mentioned.
However, others agreed with George Takei's tweet and claimed that Star Trek fandoms could indeed be "weird."

George Takei endorsed Kamala Harris for the upcoming US presidential elections
George Takei has been an active advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and marginalized communities and has further extended support and endorsed Kamala Harris. In a tweet posted on July 24, he wrote:
"I’m OUT for Kamala Harris and you should be, too!"
In a follow-up tweet posted on July 26, George Takei revealed that through the "OUT FOR HARRIS" call, they had raised more than $300,000 from over $20,000 participants.
However, in his recent viral tweet from July 29, Takei criticized both Donald Trump and U.S. Senator J. D. Vance. Takei's remarks on Vance, in particular, come at a time when Vance is facing significant scrutiny.
A 2022 article by Rolling Stone is getting the highlight at the moment, in which Narya, Vance's venture capitalist firm, was said to fund a company named AmplifyBio involved in animal cruelty. This company reportedly performed cruel tests on animals like monkeys as well as dogs. This revelation has fueled debate over Vance's suitability for high office.
Additionally, he received backlash for referring to Democrats as a "bunch of childless cat ladies with miserable lives." This even prompted actress Jennifer Aniston to bash the senator for the remarks. She further took to Instagram and said:
"All I can say is... Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day. I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too."
Netizens have been calling out the senator currently, and it is now a matter of time to see if the allegations affect Vance's campaigns.
