Bad Boys: Ride or Die has achieved a significant milestone in its 10th weekend at the box office. The buddy cop action spectacle, directed by Adil & Bilall, has grossed over $400 million worldwide, surpassing Twisters and A Quite Place: Day One.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is the fourth film in the Bad Boys franchise, which was kicked off by Michael Bay in 1995. The filmmaker, known for action mayhem, brought together Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as two hard-boiled Miami detectives, Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett.

The franchise as a whole has grossed over 1.2 billion dollars at the box office, with Ride or Die currently standing as the second highest-grossing film in the series. The film also stars Joe Pantoliano, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Núñez, Jacob Scipio, John Salley, and DJ Khaled.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die has ended the rough phase that Will Smith was going through, at least at the box office, by grossing over $400 million worldwide. Released on June 7, 2024, the film has made around $207 million in overseas markets and over $193 million domestically.

The film has outperformed other big franchise films such as A Quiet Place: Day One and Twisters, which were released in June and July, respectively. Twisters, a reboot of the 1996 classic disaster film, has earned over $222 million in the US and $87 million internationally, bringing its global total to $310 million.

Meanwhile, A Quiet Place: Day One, a prequel to the A Quite Place film series, has grossed $260 million worldwide in its seventh week. Bringing in $138.5 million from the US box office and $122 million from overseas.

While these films might surpass Bad Boys in the upcoming weeks, the success of the buddy cop film has raised speculation about the future of the franchise. Fans are eager to know if Mike and Marcus will return for more action in the future.

Will there be a sequel to Bad Boys: Ride or Die?

Bad Boys: Ride or Die came as a saving grace for the box office, particularly after the unexpected failures of anticipated blockbusters like The Fall Guy and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. The film's success has also proved that the lead stars, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, can still bring people to theaters. Both actors have already stated that they are ready to come together for more movies if that's what the fans want.

While talking about the film in an interview with Entertainment Weekly published on June 7, 2024, Smith jokingly said:

"Well, these younger actors are going to need to do more of the stunts, that's for sure."

Following the surprisingly positive response to the film, producer Jerry Bruckheimer stated that if the makers feel there's more story there, then they're ready to go for the next installment.

Considering that the film is now on its way to becoming the most successful film in the franchise, the possibility of a sequel has increased significantly.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is available for streaming on Apple TV and Prime Video.
