In the season 4 premiere of the Hart to Heart talk show with fellow actor Kevin Hart, the actor explained why he seems to look serious to downright angry in all the paparazzi snaps.

Ben Affleck admitted that he just has one of those faces, telling Hart:

"I also might be somebody who I do find myself—I'll be sitting at home, and they're like, 'What's wrong?' 'Nothing. Nothing's wrong.'...I'm like, 'Nothing. I'm listening to this thing.' I start thinking, is something wrong?"

But when Hart suggested that "resting b*tch face" may be the term he's looking for to describe his face, Affleck disagreed. He quipped:

"B*tch?! Now, now, I have a resting hard face."

The actor has been a star, not only in films but also in paparazzi photos where is often shown as either sad, confused, or angry. Affleck's paparazzi photos have become a viral sensation and have spawned dozens of memes over the years.

Ben Affleck admitted to being "a little bit shy" when people stick their cameras in his face

The Oscar-winning actor also admitted to being shy as he doesn't like to be the center of attention. He opened up about his shyness on the talk show, which could have reflected a "sour mood" in paparazzi photos,

"First of all, I'm also a little bit shy. I also don't like a lot of attention. It's [like] why people see me and they're like, 'What's with this dude? Always mad.' Because somebody has their camera and sticks it in my face and I'm like, 'Okay, here we go.'"

And while Ben Affleck takes people sticking their cameras in his face with enthusiasm, such is not the case when he's with his kids. If paparazzi follow the actor and photograph him when his kids are present and he looks like he's in a sour mood, that's because he's frustrated and mad about it.

"I don't mind, you can take my picture at a club or a premiere, with my wife. I don't give a f*ck. Knock yourself out. I don't notice you. But with my children, that's a different thing."

The serious face may be Affleck's "normal" face, but the actor admitted that what his face looks like doesn't tell the overall story in any picture.

"People are projecting something onto me that I don't feel about myself at all."

Whether Ben Affleck is sad, bored, or angry in photos, his viral unamused facial expression or the "sad Affleck" meme became the star of a Dunkin Donuts commercial at the 2024 Grammys, which featured a news clip of the actor's photo with his wife, Jennifer Lopez, and a header "The Boredest Man in the World."
