Reagan star Jon Voight has weighed in on the ongoing drama between his estranged daughter, Angelina Jolie, and her former husband, Brad Pitt. Voight is currently on the press run for his upcoming Ronald Reagan biography drama, Reagan.
In an interview with Fox News on Friday, August 23, Voight expressed his views on the family rift between Jolie and Pitt.
"I wish they'd find a way to make peace," he said.
Jolie and Pitt are currently locked in a contentious battle over their shared 500-hectare estate and French winery, Chateau Miraval, located in the heart of Provence. Voight emphasized that the most important thing is to give the kids "some stability" for the former couple's six children.
Sharing his love for his grandchildren and daughter, Jon Voight also sternly called for his former son-in-law to "step up" and do the right thing for everyone involved, adding:
"And I want Brad to step up to do, you know, what he has to do. End this nonsense."
Angelina Jolie was granted sole physical custody of her and Brad Pitt's minor children in 2022, after a brief period of joint custody. Recently, the former couple have been filing back-to-back court filings about NDAs related to the sale of their French winery and Jolie's allegations of physical abuse by Pitt in 2016.
Jon Voight previously criticized Angelina Jolie's political views
Jon Voight, who famously has a fractious relationship with Angelina Jolie, is currently not on speaking terms with his daughter. This reportedly stems from his repeated comments about Jolie's private life, despite the actress explicitly asking him to stop.
The Reagan star previously slammed Jolie's political views, particularly her stance on the Israel-Palestine war. Jolie, who is a prominent humanitarian activist, called for an "immediate ceasefire" and slammed Israel for "deliberately b*mbing" civilians in Gaza.
However, Voight, who is a staunch Israel supporter, slammed Jolie's views, suggesting that she has been "exposed to propaganda" and "influenced by antisemitic people." During an interview with Variety published on July 23, 2024, he also blamed the Playing God actress's relationship with the United Nations for Jolie's alleged "antisemitic" agenda, saying:
"I love my daughter. I don't want to fight with my daughter, But the fact is, I think she has been influenced by the UN... She's ignorant of what the real stakes are and what the real story is because she's in the loop of the United Nations."
The Megalopolis actor also said in November last year that he is "disappointed with her daughter" because she supposedly has "no understanding of God's honor, God's truth."
Angelina Jolie and Jon Voight had been estranged but reconciled when her mother died from ovarian cancer in 2017. At the time, the actress told The Hollywood Reporter that she and Voight "have gotten to know each other through grandchildren now."
