With The Fantastic Four: First Steps in production right now, fans will soon get to see Marvel's first family grace the big screens again next year. However, that won't be all, as this time the film will be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as well. The project will also introduce a villain named Galactus, who is most famously known as the destroyer of worlds in comic books.

Galactus is set to be portrayed by Ralph Ineson in the upcoming film The Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, a new rumor states that the villain might hail from his own universe.

A post uploaded by the account @marvel_updat3s on X claims that the villain would come from his own universe where he was defeated by Franklin Richards, the son of Reed Richards and Sue Storm, and the Fantastic Four themselves. While the rumor can surely excite fans who are looking forward to seeing Galactus on the big screen, it is unfortunately not true.

As of now, no plot details for the upcoming Pedro Pascal-starrer have been revealed. While Galactus will be the villain in the film, no details have been provided saying that he would come from a universe of his own. It is recommended that fans should take this rumor with a grain of salt and wait to check out what happens when the movie is released.

When does The Fantastic Four: First Steps come out?

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is scheduled to release on July 25, 2025. The film will be the third live-action incarnation of the superhero group, with Pedro Pascal playing the titular character, Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic.

The other cast members include Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch. It will also be directed by Matt Shakman of WandaVision fame.

As per artwork and the footage shown behind closed doors at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2024, the film will be set in the 60s, but it looks like it won't be in the 60s of the main Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline. Rather, the film will have a retro-futuristic aesthetic to it and will potentially take place outside of the main 616 MCU.

While plot details on the films are still being kept under wraps, fans can expect to hear more about the project in the upcoming months.

The MCU has been building up to the Fantastic Four

While this version of Fantastic Four is slated to show up a year from now, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has still featured characters from the team pop up in their films. The first appearance of a F4 character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was when John Krasinski portrayed Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

More recently, Chris Evans also returned to the MCU but not as Captain America. The actor portrayed Johnny Storm in Deadpool & Wolverine—a character that he had previously played in the 2000s.

However, both the F4 characters mentioned above suffered gruesome fates because they were immediately killed off by the villains of their respective films.
