Several artists including Mark Hamill, and Ariana Grande, have extended support to Kamala Harris recently. Joe Biden endorsed Harris to be a nominee in the presidential race after he withdrew his candidature, on Sunday, July 21, 2024. This decision led to support from several Hollywood celebrities, who agreed to the stepping down of Biden.

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill took to X and wrote:

"He restored honesty, dignity & integrity to the office after 4 years of lies, crime, scandal & chaos. Thank you for your service, Mr. President. It's now our duty as patriotic Americans to elect the Democrat who will honor & further your legacy."

In a follow-up tweet, he posted a picture of himself with Kamala Harris and further endorsed her as the nominee for the presidential elections this year. Hamill further used the tag "#HamillheartsHarris" which soon went viral.

Netizens flooded the social media platform with posts along with the tag which was started by the 72-year-old actor. Here are some of the many tweets which are all over on X:

"Its the #HamillHeartsHarris for me its giving …A New Hope seems to me like @MarkHamill is showing us that supporting Kamala is the Jedi Way," shared a user.
"A hashtag I can totally embrace! Love this! #HamillHeartsHarris," read another tweet.
"I love this so much. I keep saying Harris is a force! Now I know for sure. #HarrisForPOTUS #HamillHeartsHarris," wrote a supporter on X.

Netizens made Star Wars references as well, in their tweets.

"#HamillHeartsHarris. She locked down the Jedi vote!" one fan wrote.
"Perfect! #HamillHeartsHarris," added another one.
"#HamillHeartsHarris, I'm in!" mentioned a tweet.

Mark Hamill's support for Kamala Harris wasn't the first time he stood by the Democratic Party

Mark Hamill could be considered as one of the celebrities, who had been quite vocal about his political inclinations. On May 7, Hamill posted a clip with President Joe Biden on Instagram, with the caption that read:

"We had a very good feeling about this. May the 4th be with you. America."

On July 8, Hamill even made a post on Instagram about the Project 2025, and wrote a caption saying that he "dissented." The post, however, seemingly had partly false information after it was reviewed by independent fact-checkers. In 2017, he trolled former President Donald Trump by reading some of his tweets in the voice of Joker.

This wasn't the first time for Mark Hamill promoting a Democratic candidate. Over the years, he had been quite vocal about his stance along with his open support.

As mentioned, Biden had recently stepped down from his presidential race and instead endorsed Kamala Harris, who is also the vice president of the US. She, however, is yet to become an official nominee, since that could be decided in the upcoming Democratic National Convention.

Meanwhile, netizens flooded the internet in support of Biden's decision to withdraw his candidature and "pass the baton" on to Harris. The support had not just come from netizens, but also from several Hollywood celebrities.

While Mark Hamill started a hashtag that had already become viral, several others including Demi Lovato, Jon Favreau, and others had taken it to social media to endorse Kamala Harris.

Lovato posted a picture of her along with Harris on Instagram story. While, American filmmaker and actor Jon Favreau took to X, and wrote how Biden thought about the citizens of the country while making the decision. Jon described Biden's action as "selfless and courageous."

The decision of Biden's withdrawal came after being pressurized by fellow democrats, who claimed that he wasn't "fit enough" to do presidential duties for another term.

Singer-songwriter and Billi Eilish's brother Finneas supported Biden's endorsement of Kamala Harris and posted a photo on Instagram praising the President for his decision. Abbott Elementary actor Sheryl Lee Ralph shared a photo of her with Harris to support the Vice President.

The DNC or the Democratic National Convention is set to be held in Chicago, during the period from August 19 to August 22. At this event, the delegates of the Democratic Party will decide on an official nominee who will compete in the 2024 elections.
